Nice dark amber color, great aroma, smooth flavor with a crisp finish. Try it if you can get your hands on it. cking (1175) - North Canton, Ohio, USA - AUG 7, 2007
The sixer I bought was labeled as the seasonal "Golden Fleece Maibock", which still shows the chunky ram enjoying his mug of beer and bag of chips. I’ve been able to enjoy a handful of different Maibocks this season and I really enjoy the style, this offering is no exception as it is a wonderful beer all around. Fragrant aroma of sweet biscuity malt and honey. I’m reminded of fresh morning flowers with that crisp bouquet and sweet airy aroma. Bright orange-copper pour with a half inch head and moderate lacing. Quick carbonation showing how vibrant this beer looks. Man o’ man the mouth feel is super smooth and silky. Medium body that’s amazingly drinkable, the abv isn’t even noticed. This is fresh and filling. Massive flavor in this Maibock filled with bready malts, caramel, and a ton of honey. There is a subtle nutty dryness and a sugary sweetness that adds to the overall enjoyment. I really enjoy this style of Bock, and this one is a nicely crafted version. Bottle. Light amber color - clear. Excellent! Quite sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. Some roasted flavor and hops, but the focus is definitely on the malt. Tastes strong. mrpickwick (5) - Jaffrey, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 26, 2009 does not count
Hard to find a good Maibock in my home area but found this one while traveling in the Albany, NY area. Enjoyed it enough that I went back and bought the store’s last 6-pack to take home with me. Full-bodied, fine mouthfeel - doesn’t seem like 8.5%. I’ll definitely buy it again if I’m able to - wish it were other than a seasonal. UPDATED: JUL 26, 2011 I have not been overly impressed with the beers from this brewer in the past but this one was rather good. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet and sugary with an undertone of ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet and sugary with light malts and a hint of caramel. There is a hint of an alcohol burn but given the 8.5% this is reasonable.

The appearance is clear yellow orange. Tons of carbonation. Big, thick shaving cream foam of a head; pure white.
The aroma is a terrific dark roasted caramel malt; sweet, not bitter. A pilsnery, flowery citrus hop. Toasted base with a flowery, perfumey second sniff.
The taste is sugary malts that are also dark, like a strong ale or a mild barleywine. Really nice bitter flowery hop; grassy. I am really enjoying the dueling banjos of dark (malt) and light (hops).
The feel is thick and milky. Smooth with a honey-like consistency. It’s a strong drink at 8.5%! Thick and dark malts, a nice spring-y hop respite. A fine example of style.

12oz bottle. Golden-orange colored, with little lasting head. Mild but potent malty aroma. The taste is big and rich, covering the palate in thick sweetness. Slightly yeasty and pungent in the Bock style. A little crisp balancing hops even it out and keep it drinkable, especially at 8.5%. A great Maibock, another well done seasonal from Erie. beerbill (3619) - Laurel, New York, USA - MAY 13, 2006
On tap at the LI Beer Festival. Pours a medium copper with a nice off-white head. Pleasant floral aroma with some malt coming through as well. Very nice flavor - malt, some fruitiness from the hops, with a very nice finish. Everything you’d want from a Spring Bock. Good stuff. nick76 (4403) - Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 29, 2009
The aroma is very hoppy and malty with a special maibock yeast. The appearance is deep gold with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a touch of corn. The palate is smooth. Overall a very well made beer and one of the best maibocks that I have had. mkobes (2142) - paramus, New Jersey, USA - AUG 1, 2009
Clear golden in color with a nice white head. Grainy, malty and floral aroma. Toffee, dark fruity notes. Caramel dark fruity flavor. Sweet tasting. Medium bodied. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Nice beer.
