Thanks to beerbuzzmontreal for sending this one out. Dark brown, almost black beer with a thick and lasting dark brown head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate with a touch of acidity as well. Flavour is quite clean, light bready malts, roasted barley, chocolate and a touch of coffee. Light bitterness. Nice creamy texture. Nice beer. Great beer. Very dark ruby colour, with a lasting creamy and frothy tan coloured head. Roasty and caramel aroma with a tinge of cofee. Light caramel and bready flavours with a lightly roasted coffee bitter finish. Mouthfeel is light but satisfying. A well created beer.

Opaque black with a very nice creamy tan head and excellent glass lacing. Smoky, black patent malt, and chocolates aroma. The flavor is more roasted malt, with chocolate and coffee palying leading roles. Medium bitterness throughout. Dry medium body with a roasty semi-bitter finish. Nice beer. mds (2250) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 12, 2004
Bottle. near black in appearance with a small off-white head. faint roasted malt on the nose. The flavour is roasty and smooth. thin body. finish was fairly dry. I didn’t really care for it too much at the beginning of my glass but then it kind of grew on me.

roasty, malty aroma; somewhat mild black caraffe roastyness and a bit of chocolate; a slightly detracting metallicness is there; rather thin body, though smooth, and a tad creamy; somewhat dry finish IndianaRed (4941) - Boise, Idaho, USA - AUG 25, 2004
BottlePoured out black with small light tan head and good lacing. Aropma was a faint compilation of molassas, coffee, and smoke. Taste was more of the smoke, charcoal, but also prunes, dates and cola. Feel was quite fizzy, medium to thin body. Moderately sweet and lightly acidic, bitter trailer. Near black with a taller bone colored head. Dry dark malt aroma. Light and crisp. Mild coffee and dark chocolate flavors. A clean schwartz, almost to much so. Sham (1844) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 12, 2004
Dark brown with a tan head and spotty lacing. Roasted malts and caramel smell. Something sweet. Some spice. Alcohol and hops. Flavors of smoked roast malts, caramel bitter hops and alcohol Spice and tang in the palate, medium body and a bitter finish of roast. Thanks David!
