Near black with a taller bone colored head. Dry dark malt aroma. Light and crisp. Mild coffee and dark chocolate flavors. A clean schwartz, almost to much so.

660 ml bottle, featuring and in support of the Achikunipi. Very dark ruby colour, almost opaque, with a mostly lasting creamy and frothy tan coloured head. Roasty and caramel aroma with notes of coffee. Light caramel and bready flavours with a lightly roasted coffee bitter finish. Mouthfeel is light but satisfying.

Pours a dark brown color with ruby highlights and a thick, frothy light brown head that leaves decent lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, fruits and roasted malt. Flavor of chocolate, fruits and roasted malt with a mild bitter finish. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation.

Bottle. Pours ruby black with a large frothy diminishing tan head -- it looks great! Aroma of roasted malt, hops and coffee. Flavour follows aroma along with a touch of chocolate. Body is a little thin. I really like this and I want more, time for a trip to Quebec!

Bottled. Large dark beige head. Excellent lacing. Ruby dark hue. Roasted aroma with chocolate, dough, cassis, a lot of licorice and some spices. Tastes cold coffee, yet pleasant. Leaves a bilberry mouthfeel. Dry, medium body.

Brown-black body (not totally opaque) with a short-lived white head. Aroma of roasted malt, some smoke, chocolate and toasted bread. Very pleasant to the nose but the taste is a bit of a letdown. Rather watery, sweet, vinous, malty and some coffee notes with some unexpected tartness. Cacao powder finale. A good beer. Part of the profits go to a fund used to save endangered species. And if they dont succeed the Escousse would probably accompany very well the broiled bird on the label.

Tasted in Ottawa. Obtained from Depanne Plus in Hull QC. Appearance is black, with a medium white head that remains in the glass. Very non-descript aroma, slight matly scent but is hard to pick up. Flavour is very roasted buttery sweet, almost like a butter toffee taste. Finishes with a slight mellow hoppiness.
