Bottle. Very dark brown. Roasty, fudgey, slightly smoky aroma. Soft body, gently fudgey malty character with a bit of roast. Not a lot of smoke character, but this beer is easily their best. Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 10, 2011
Bottle. Pours thick and black. Tan head. Carob pastelis predominates in the aroma. Silky palate. Flavors throw you for a loop. Would never call it smoky. Would definitely say it continues to resemble Cypriot carob toffee (pasteli) in the slightly tart toffee vein. Or maybe tart’s not the right word, it just sort of awakens the sides of the tongue. Has also cocoa and other tropical tree nut flavors. And a little black licorice. Is relatively complex, and has moreish qualities too. Was not expecting much, given the caliber of some of Eske’s other brews but if they put this type of stuff on tap more often, they’d do great!!
