I guess it's cause I'm a Chile-Head, but I really liked this beer. It had a fine American wheat base that was NOT overpowered by the green peppers added during secondary fermentation. It's the big green NuMex or Sandia chiles that makes it happen, not the harsh jalapenos. It's the style I've tried to make myself ever since trying it. Helps to have it at the the adobe brewpub's outdoor seating (picnic tables) on a fine late summer afternoon.
And yes, I realize this style just isn't for everyone. But if you got burned by a wretched Cave Creek, give this one a try!

Tap @ Eskes. Pours a fairly clear golden appearance with a white head. Straw, veggie, lightly spicy aroma. Kind of bland, watery, green chili, pale malty flavor with a fair amount of spiciness on the finish. Beerathon (1681) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 16, 2012
This is the 3rd chile beer I’ve tried, and only gave it a chance because it was a free sample. Thank goodness I did give it a taste because it proved to me this style can be rewarding. A friend brought this bomber at the brewpub. We shared it. Dingly and cloudy golden with sediment in the bottom of the bottle. The nose is green peppers and that is also the taste. Decent malt, too, but subtleties are difficult to pick out through the peppers. They are warm but not over powering. A decent version.

Tap at the pub. This beer pours a clear light yellow to straw color. Has a very small amount of white head. Very little. Aroma is sweet, grainy, with maybe a bit of spice. Hard to pick out on the aroma. Flavor is dry grains, a touch of popcorn with the chili spice and heat on the finish. pale hazy yellow with a short lived white head.
it smells like the inside of a fresh chocolate pepper... mixed with hatch chiles, rice and a touch of citrus.

Draft @ brewpub. Hazy yellow. Bright and assertively green chili aroma is unmistakable. I like how they didn’t hold back on it. The body is light and quaffable. Considered giving the palate score a 4 because of how welcome the heat is on the back of my throat. The flavor is really mellow, and balanced. Seems like just the right kind and amt of green chili and the right type of pale malts. Finishes clean, even crisp. Good enough to have a pint of, and actually a good job for what can be a difficult style. But if anyone is going to succeed with a green chili beer it better be a New Mexican! On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Aroma of green chile (smells like a spicy tortilla soup). Flavor of spice initially, tortilla, and heat in the finish with just a hint of vegetables. Certainly spicy but not overwhelming. Hard to drink a lot of, but definitely drinkable, and the best green chile beer I’ve had thus far (out of 3). They know what they’re doing!!
