UPDATED: SEP 13, 2004 This stuff is very, very good! Quality is evident all the way through. It is a thick, chewy barley wine, with a very good balance of malt and hops. The 10% ABV is felt precisely where it should be, not overpowering on the start or finish, and it had that nice underlying, thick cherry quality to it that I love in a barley wine. This is a top notch brew, and I highly recommend it. Aggie80 (827) - Michigan, USA - JUN 29, 2003
Rather weak head and lacing on the one I had. Tea Brown pour with a bit of cloudiness. Sweet porter type flavor to it. Vacation 03 Carlisle (786) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 18, 2017
Draft at the brewery in Estes Park. Pours opaque bronze. Aroma of stone fruit (figs with some apricot). Caramel with fig along with some subtle apricot notes. Sweet brown sugar with a hint of alcohol in the finish. A bit too much sweetness. jayme9874 (756) - Hamburg, New York, USA - MAY 25, 2002
Deep cloudy glowing copper with orange and yellow hues. Thin off white head. Huge nose of doughy malt with hints of yeasty fruitiness and alcohol. This is a thick and malty monster with just enough hops to balance. Alcohol at the end is drying and warming. A little rough around the edges but time can fix that. Reminds me of a young old foghorn. Many thanks to Ringo. Crash (532) - Macomb, Illinois, USA - FEB 1, 2005
I’m not sure what color to call this beer. One I don’t remember it that well and the added color blind thing doesn’t help. Sweet caramel malty taste with a little hop added in. It had a somewhat bitter finish but, not enough to kill it for me.

Aroma is caramel and malts with some vanilla. Pours a dark reddish brown with almost no head. Taste is caramel and malty sweet. Not as much alcohol taste as other barleywines. Very good. FestDecBeet (412) - - OCT 13, 2014
Look: pours a dark copper. Off white head. Slight cloudiness.
Smell: very sweet. Caramel or toffee. Raspberry fruit roll up. Berries. Malt.
Taste: alcohol. Slight bitterness. On the back end. Sweet berries. Raspberry. Blueberry. Malt
Feel: dry. Leaves a thick film on the mouth. Really makes the mouth salivate.
Overall: nicely done beer. Goo flavor and mouth feel. Really like the sweet fruits and the slight bitterness. Very well balanced beer. Not what I would call a true barleywine but still a great beer.

Dark brown......opaque. Somewhat thin, yet very creamy head. Strong, very floral aroma. Sweet flavors of toffee and caramel up front......smooth mouthfeel, with a slight crispness. Extremely strong back with a slightly malty aftertaste. bigal9699 (152) - Orange County, California, USA - JUN 19, 2002
Pours with little to no head. Dark golden red/amber color. Very nice and complex winey nose with hints of bright fruit (cherry and orange) and sweet toasted malt. Medium chewy palate - absolutely no carbonation; almost to a fault. Flavors of caramel, toffee and sweet toasty malt. Touch of bitter hops on the finish. Clean finish, no heat. Nose really teased that this would be an even more complex brew - but still solid in taste and quality. Thanks Ringo!
