COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As a true ice cidre "Cidre de Givre" expresses with intensity the flavors of the apples from Domaine Etienne Dupont. It is derived from E. Dupont Cidre Bouche Brut 2005 by freezing it and then removing the frozen water.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2009 Vintage 2005 - sampled 2006. An orange cider with just hints of a head. The aroma is strong with notes fo apples and cinnamon, and the flavor is very sweet with notes of apples and cinnamon. Nice.

Vintage 2006 - sampled 2009. Amber with a whiff of head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of over ripe apples, alcohol, and caramel. The flavor is quite sweet with a light tart touch and strong notes of apples, leaning on being over ripe, leading to a dry finish. Thanks Steffen for this second go at it.

Bottled Vintage 2005. Amber coloured. Unclear. No head. Loads of apples, sugar and sweetness in the aroma. flavour as well is packed with apples and sugar. A bit too much. Alcohol is notable. Medium bodied. Very sugary end, almost cloying. I found this at Systembolaget in Malmö, and it was quite pricey. Cider will never be my favourite drink.

(Bottle 37,5 cl) Vintage 2005. Clear, amber golden with a small, white head. Fresh, tart apple aroma. Very full-bodied with a high degree of sweetness - extremely sweet actually - and then an odd saline accent. Interesting but completely disharmonious. 011206

Pours a clear and flat looking apple juice color. I don’t really feel comfortable rating something like this for appearance when I don’t know enough about the style to know if it looks good or not. To me it looks like apple juice. The aroma is pungently sweet with strong apple notes, light alcohol notes, and a bit of butter. Syrupy mouthfeel is coating as it goes down. Very nice. The flavor is easy to enjoy with a very sweet apple juice taste on top of a slight mineral taste that goes away quickly and doesn’t bother me. I’m glad I liked this but I can’t justify the price.

Bottled. Vintage 2005. 7,2%. Amber coloured. Big slightly acidic aroma of apples and butterscotch. Flavour of apples, raisins. Very sweet, juicy and and syrupy. Delicious.

Pours amber. No carbonation/head. Aromas are apples (obviously), caramel, amd maybe a bit of pear. Flavors are caramel, apples, pear, alcohol, and a subtle mix of other fruits. It kind of explodes in the mouth, and is quite syrupy. A very sweet, decedant drink. Like liquid dessert. I’m surprised that I like it this much, but at about $20 for a 375ml. bottle, I’m glad I do.
