Viscous, light amber-golden liquid shows high clarity.
Rich, spicy apple notes are like a concentrated golden delicious with cinnamon, vanilla, and fresh oak added in to the mix. Nicely aged, with no sharp, punchy or boozy notes, it has a good balance of rich sugars, earthiness and tannic dryness. Clean and with no alcohol.
Rich and sumptuous in the mouth, but with a dangerous drinkability, the lightly sticky body adds rich honey-vanilla, light almondmeal and hints of cinnamon, clove and allspice. Some weird but interesting earthy and funky notes in there too. Hard to believe this stuff is only 6.9% abv and kind of makes me lose a little respect for all of the 10% + ice ciders out there that are doing the same thing only with double the alcohol. Comforting, flavorful and well balanced with the acidity. Wonderful stuff.
Pours dark amber, shiny mahogany, no foam. Aroma is sweetish, lots of sweet apple povidlo. Condensed apple jam flavours, still very sweet but not too much. Lingering apple peel jam in the finish. Nice, very nice

Bottle shared at Comme la Gueuze. Very honey-like nose with pear and apple standing out. Caramelized, honey glazed apple. Sweet, but a rich, caramelized sweetness that is almost like umami. Honey-like texture. Sweet, toasty finish. Nice.

Clear amber with no head. Aroma is sweet baked apples, figs, raisins, some floral honey notes, toffee and light funky barnyard notes. Taste is sweet and tart fruity. Finish is sweet apples, figs, vanilla and toffee notes, tart apple skins, some citrusy notes, Light to medium bodied, oily texture, flat.
Good, nice combination of the sweet dried fruit, light funk and juicy appples.
Very incredibly, I’m told at the Dupont domain directly that this cuvée oscillates between 6% and 12% depending on the vintage, bad years bearing a lower sugar and alcohol content. I had the Givre 2014 which sits at 6% (the upcoming 2015 is apparently 12%). For someone out of Quebec, this feels like a poor man’s ice cider, being very sweet, but still below Quebec’s average ice cider range and with less baked appel complexity, less acidity, but perhaps more texturous tannins, which are fun indeed, but when I’m trying an ice cider, I’m probably shooting for as much sugary complexity as possible and therefore less interested in balance as these products just are never balanced, just like a double IPA or barley wine. It remains a pleasant beverage, but considering it’s trying to bring techniques from abroad to France’s terroir, it’s underwhelming.
