Bottle shared by my friend Ken. Pours blonde with a thick white head and a massive blackberry aroma. There is a medium-bodied wheat flavor with a lot of blackberry, especially at the finish. Refreshing and tasty. beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - MAY 4, 2004
Pours a darker golden hue with a bit of white head. Aroma is strong with the smell of blackberries. Flavor is a sweet berry filled flavor. Beer left a sour and bitter taste in my mouth. bb (9241) - Alamo, California, USA - OCT 29, 2008
Bottle. Slightly hazy amber beer with a nice off-white head. Sweet blackberry aroma with some light malt. Blackberry flavor with light malt/wheat. Medium bodied. Refreshing. Blackberry, wheat and light earth/spice lingers. Fruit is done well - not syrupy, clunky, or anything off about it at all. HighWine (959) - Whalezbro, Illinois, USA - OCT 5, 2010
Bottle. Translucent straw color, faint nose of wheat malt. Taste is wheat with a strong blackberry flavor. The flavor is not as astringent but reminiscent of cough syrup. Palate is medium to medium thin and not syrupy at all. I"m not a huge fruit beer drinker but this one isnít bad because of the pleasant wheat malt profile. Very drinkable. slowrunner77 (11917) - Reno, Nevada, USA - JUL 24, 2016
Bottle - blonde pour without an expected purple tinge. Aroma is big Berry jam and a touch syrupy, as is the flavor. Pleasant in those aspects, though slightly artificial.

(22 oz bottle: $3.39 at Liquor Barn in Redding, CA) The label states, "This perky little blonde is full of surprises…" I completely agree with this statement, though they donít mention the thing that I find most surprising. Like the strong smoky finish to this beer. Possibly the only basic American fruit beer Iíve had with smokiness, and itís not shy either. This beer reminds me of something St. Peters might do. Very odd, completely out of character for this style, but somehow itís working for me. However, this is supposed to be a fruit beer, and in particular, a blackberry wheat, and the blackberry flavor is very light, with just a hint showing up in the overall flavor. Wheat also seems pretty light, as is the overall sweetness. So beside the strong smoky finish, the strong grassy character is kind of reminded of celery. Yes, thatís right, celery, and itís pretty apparent from start to finish, which is when the smokiness kicks in, plus a modest spiciness, perhaps pepper, as well as a mild bitterness shows up too. Very strange flavor for what itís supposed to be: a fruit beer! The nose shows a bit of wheat malt and an obvious grassiness, but only a modest berry aroma, and none of the smoke and no hops. Light bodied, but clean and somewhat crisp on the palate, and the carbonation levels are fine. Medium straw in color and quite cloudy in appearance. The inch-tall creamy head slowly settles to a thin, but not filmy layer, and a fairly dense curtain of lace has stuck to the glass. Well, this is one of the oddest beer experiences Iíve had in a long time, and indeed this perky little blonde has been full of surprises. But Iíd rather that perky blonde was a real chick, not this beer. Weird as hell beer, and totally lacking the fruit, itís like they mislabeled the bottle, or more likely, left out some of the ingredients. But somehow itís still not that bad. hayduke (5188) - Eureka, California, USA - OCT 24, 2005
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2006 22 oz bottle. Cloudy, wtih some carbonation and little head. While labeled a fruit beer, it was more malts and hops. Refreshing, but not remarkable. Decent nose, and easy to drink to the last drop. At the At Hops in Humboldt Micro-Brew Festival had a second chance to evaluate this offering. I kind of enjoyed the nose which was kind of nice. Raising that score a bit, but all else remains the same.

Bottle from Liquor Barn in Redding, CA too. Pours a straw golden with a nice soapy head. Aroma is rather light with hints of blackberry essence and sweet wheat malt. Wheat up front followed by light soft blackberry and then more wheat. Maybe some light yeasty esters. A little off flavor too. Light and smooth with soft carbonation. Actually not bad really, but I like fruit beers more than the next man. bhensonb (15088) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 10, 2008
Another bottle from Liquor Barn in Redding, CA. Hazy, light amber color with a moderate white head. Aroma is almost perfumey blackberry; perhaps wheat and citrus as well. Medium body and creamy carbonation. Flavor is tart berry over wheat. It’s tart, but there is some sugar. Finish is clean. Pretty decent fruit beer. Thanks to Hayduke for this one. Pour is hazy golden with a small fizzy head that quickly disappears. A very sweet fragrance of blackberry that is syrupy. flavor is soft blackberry with some wheat crispness. This is as easy a drinking beer as there is.
