4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Looks non-too-impressive from the pour - almost like a pepsi, but with some minimal head and a more opaque body. Aroma is sweet and heavenly but subtle - caramel, prune, alcohol. Taste is sweet but with a bit of alcohol and bitterness striking oddly on the back of the tongue. Leaves a nice complex taste all around the mouth to savor. Palate is quite full, smooth and extremely wet - almost like a milkshake, okay not thaaat thick. Overall, a really lovely doppelbock - my favorite style! I could drink this anywhere, anytime and be happy as a clam.
I will leave the descriptions to others. When ever I’m in Germany I stop by the cloister and pick up a dozen bottles. 1.5 Euro a bottle. The best beer ever. Lager43 (46) - Watertown, Connecticut, USA - JUL 18, 2017
A wonderful full flavored malty beer. Great body and very smooth mouthfeel. Tastes almost as good here as at the monastery in Germany. Prost!

1 pint, 9 oz. bottle. Pour was dark brown/red, off white head. Aroma of dark fruit, malty, raisin. Taste was mild sweet, malty, caramel, nut. MatiF96 (211) - POLAND - MAY 24, 2017
Generalnie całkiem fajne piwo, bogaty smak i aromat gripweed57 (2460) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - APR 15, 2017
500 ml bottle. Copper color with a brief creamy beige head. Roasted malt nose has notes of caramel, figs, dark dried fruit and syrup. Flavor mirrors nose with additional notes of light chocolate and cane syrup. Chewy mouthfeel. Cloying sweet malty finish and aftertaste.

Not my favorite style. Aroma of figs and caramel, flavor much the same. Large bottle poured into a tulip, twice... very flat indeed. Deep brown color, medium oily body. Sort of like lightly carbonated prune juice. Couldn’t take more than one of these sweet treats and had a hard time finishing the bottle. This brew is the opposite of complex and it’s rather disappointing.

Dark copper body, with a medium, creamy, lacing, beige head.
Aroma of caramel, dried fruits, cocoa, some toast.
Tastes quite similar, but fuller, with lots of lovely cocoa and caramel notes.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes smooth, moderate roasty, a bit sweet, toasty, with cocoa, caramel, dark fruits.
Tasty! Very smooth and greatly balanced, with enough toasty notes and dryness to compensate the dark, sweet notes. Classic, accomplished style example, very enjoyable.
Bottle from the cloister - Dark brown color with rather small head. Thick malty body. Taste is dried fruits, dark malts, chocolate, toffee. Rather sweet, slightly boozy. Nice Doppelbock.
