50cl bottles 06-07/2015 courtesy of brewery, danke. - Thinner shoesole brown pour, vivid foam. Dry roast and a fruity acidity of apple peel and chestnut in the nose, very dry toast, shrub and woody caramels in taste. Well drinkable thanks to an attenuated absence of style-typical Dunkel sweetness, with a late grassy hop sting. cutitoutdave (67) - - APR 3, 2015
Pours dark amber from bottle with robust tan head. Nice malty aroma though let the beer warm a bit to get the full effect. Taste is not the greatest though. Heavily carbonated, watery hints of adjuncts, malty flavor somewhat suppressed and potent though transient noble hop bitterness at the end. Body dominated by carbonation. Overall the malt flavor just didn't punch through as with other dark lagers. Wouldn't buy again.

Bottle; pours clear, dark brown with a beige head; aroma of caramel, yeast, and a hint of nuts; taste is sweet with caramel and nuts; wet finish; no real bitterness with this one, pretty good dunkel Erzengel (9335) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - FEB 22, 2015
*Old rating, best before 01.05.06. Nettes würzig-röstmalziges Dunkel. Leicht süßlich, mild-weich, intensiv röstmalzig. Grzesiek79 (4379) - Radom, POLAND - FEB 8, 2015
Many thanks for this bottle to kevnic2008. Piwo z malenka piana, kolorem jasnej czerwieni, zapachem sliwek wegierek. W smaku slodowosc, karmelowosc lekka. Zabraklo nieco wytrawnosci. Nie tego sie spodziewalem po klasztornym browarze.

Brown with shimmering cherry-amber when held to the light, 5mm of dusty light brown head, fast to fade to a thin ring. Aroma is strong lager notes, banana bread, light caramelized banana (but not overripe!). Hint of toffee as it warms. hint of spring farm field. Body is slightly syrupy and medium-light weight, with moderate carbonation, fairly smooth, fat bubbles, but burn is in check. Flavor is a watery caramel with hint of maple syrup and bread crust. Hint of banana bread (much lighter here than in aroma.) Overall, a quaffable dunkel, lots of lager character, banana-bread in the aroma is a highlight. Although balanced, the flavor is short of delicious. Its balanced properties win me over as it warms. strap (953) - Sindelfingen, GERMANY - OCT 28, 2014
Dark with reddish tint and light head. Pleasant aroma, with a nice roasted malt flavor and slight sweetness. All around decent brew Bill Becker (1321) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 23, 2014
This pours a clear mahogany colour with a firm 1" head of white foam.
The smell is that of what dark malts bring to the table. An aromatic mix of roasted and grainy malts that has a lovely sweetness to it. The sweet almost smells fruity, like black cherries.
No fruit in the taste at all. Just solid roasted malt flavour with grain ad a light sweet note here and there. Not particularly bitter nor sweet. In between I’d say.
Medium body, lightish carbonation.
A solid if not great example of the style, imho. oh6gdx (26487) - Vasa, FINLAND - OCT 23, 2014
Bottled (From bierzwerg.de). Very deep ambery brown colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is mild roast, some toffee, raisins and quite sweet notes as well. Flavour is mild ripe fruits, some toffee, a bit herbal and grassy notes as well as some slight toasted notes. Leaves a bit thin as for the palate. edgallow (4367) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 8, 2014
