3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2003 Import Bottle. Not bad at all. Clean flavor with a good malt taste, color is a little light for the style. Hoppiness is a little light, too.
Restrained aroma in a golden pour. Laid back hop forward balance with Little to differentiate from a mass market lager. Except for the relatively low strength - which is always a plus in my book. gripweed57 (2796) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAY 11, 2017
From old tasting notes. Bright honey gold color. Thick bubbly white head. Zesty citrus malt nose. Light dry malty flavor. Spritzy citrus fruit hop finish. Sully (1380) - Potts Point, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA - JAN 9, 2004
It is a real shame that the older versions of these beers were much better. Not simply because I yearn for the 'good old days' but really because they were better. I think that one of the problems is that the excise tax on beer in this country is linked to the ABV so to keep prices down the brewers have reduced the alcohol. Add to that the cost of cheap adjuncts such as cane sugar there is a real diminution in flavour. I agree that the hop presence isn't bad but there is a real thinness in this beer. Pale yellow liquid with a small quickly disappearing head. Good sharp hop aromas are enticing. Nice crisp yet malty flavor that finishes nicely. Nice fluid mouthfeel. Good and Happy.
