Whakatu is Everards new beer for 2011. Brewed using Nelson Sauvin Hops this light golden ale has a crisp, dry bitter taste. The name ’Whakatu’ derives from the Maori name for ’Nelson’ where the Nelson Sauvin hops originate. With hints of grapefruit and kiwi, Whakatu is a delightful zest of crisp fruit flavours. (Also has Challenger hops)

harrisoni (18572) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - OCT 6, 2011
Cask handpull at Ashford Kent. Pale gold thin head. Some yeast and hop on aroma. Reasonably hoppy needs more of everything more hops more malt backbone. Some sting on finish. Some biscuit.

imdownthepub (14546) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 12, 2011
Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Gold with white head. Compared to another beer with New Zealand hops, this paled into insignificance. Caramel, dry and a little flowery, very little of the hop characteristics showing through. Dull.

leaparsons (10541) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 7, 2011
Cask, Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Golden with an off-white head. Aromas are leafy with honey and lemon with caramel and cereal. Hints of cardboard with floral aspects. Flavours are grassy with leafy notes and low lemon. Melon with spices. Peppery with light biscuit malts. Not bad.

ManVsBeer (10448) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 6, 2012
Extremely weak-bodied golden ale with only a small hint of flavour in its taste.

maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2011
Cask conditioned handpump Royal Blenheim Oxford. A yellow coloured beer which is virtually headless. A little lemony and a little biscuity. Light hops and a touch of tell tale gooseberry. Not enough NS but it’s OK.
