COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark as the night, this beer is proving to be a crowd pleaser. Over 100 pounds of flaked oatmeal help round out this beer with a subtle smooth sweetness. Subtle hints of black current and roasted coffee round out the flavor. Hops produce a great balance to the aroma and flavor.

Tap at the brewery. A: Pitch black with a cappuccino head. N: Coffee, oatmeal, black pepper, baker’s chocolate, smoke, ash, vanilla, burnt malt, and pumpkin seed. T: Bittersweet, similar to 80% dark chocolate. M: Medium body, smooth, no alcohol presence. O: Very good. I like this better than Samuel Smith’s, and I see where the Impy stout got its pedigree.

(En fût à la source): Extrêmement cendré, mince avec un effort de mocha rabroué par des malts brûlés. Un peu inégal.

chinchill (4993) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 6, 2016
On tap at the brewpub in White Salmon. The nearly opaque body displays lovely ruby highlights when held to the light. Very good tan head leaves patterned stick lacing on the glass Mildly bitter. Lacks complexity. Mild flavor. Medium+ body is smooth with medium-light carbonation

Draft, 12 oz pour at Hop and Hound. Pours a cola black with a tan fizz head. Big roast on the aroma. Flavor is heavy roasted malt, coffee hints, and a nice, balancing sweetness. Toasty linger forever. Stand out hops, which is a unique quality for a stout like this for me. Drinks super easy. Very nice.

Dark color, almost black. Strong aroma of coffee and burnt bread. Coffee flavor, with just a hint of chocolate, and strong bitterness.

ericdevin (988) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - MAR 31, 2014
Draft at Cornbread Cafe, Eugene. Pours a medium-dark brown, decent amount of tan head. Aroma slight, oats and some roasty, biscuity overtones. Body medium-lively, some roasty spark, finish very smooth. Not going to blow the doors off, but a very quaffable beer.

3.3
maekchu (3906) - Hirakata, JAPAN - FEB 22, 2014
Draught at Bar XV in Portland. Chocolate nose, but not much. Thick and dark. Somewhat harsh chocolate initial / smooth in mid and some coffee notes. Medium-heavy body. Thick, fairly tasty, not all that great. Served a little too cold.
