Rated on 10-21-2015 at 800 Degrees Three Fires-Fort Wayne, IN) This draft beer has a small beige head with a long retention, yellow transparent body, very little carbonation observed, and a good amount of lacing adorns the glass. The aroma is rye, citrus hops, fruity, earthy, and spice. The flavor is lightly bitter, rye and spice. This beer is medium bodied. This is a so-so beer that is not very hoppy or bitter tasting. thedm (6320) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 21, 2015
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated transparent light yellow orange colored body and a fair lacing. The weak aroma was malt hop. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. The sharp flavor contained notes of citrus crisp hops and malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again. shrubber85 (11666) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - OCT 6, 2015
Draft. Orange juice, rye malt, and orange peel aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet orange juice, rye malt, and moderately bitter grapefruit peel flavor. Nice body. b3shine (9187) - Indiana, USA - MAR 13, 2015
Draft to taster at the Mishawaka brewpub. Looks good; a transparent pale burnt orange with eggshell head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of a nice balance of fruity hops and a bit of rye spice with a medium-bodied bittersweet backbone. Tastes like it smells with a bit of pine as well. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. Enjoyable. On par with most other Evil Czech drafts this sample fell squarely in the middle of the spectrum. Flashes of excellence would be followed by periods of mundane flavors lacking a punch. The result might be worth a pour but additional treatment will not do this beer any favors.
Aroma / Appearance - A bronze semitransparent body rests under a crisp white pillow of soft head. Rye toast with nutty spread warms the air. The bitterness of earthy hops hangs in place like a slowly lifting morning fog.
Flavor / Palate - The chewy mouthfeel sticks to the corners of the palate. Teasing at a depth which is not present, it opens with rye bread fresh from the oven. A bitter transition to a clean finish never follows up with anything else. While it does not have any glaring flaws it lacks anything to set it apart. Four ounces was the perfect pour.
Draft sample. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex hop and rye malt aroma. Medium to abundant body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Good drinkable brew. Draft @ Indy Microbrewer’s Fest. Caramel malt, orange, and light vanilla aroma. Hazy yellow gold with a large off-white head. Caramel malt, orange peel, and herbal hops flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation. 574deadzone (1419) - North Central, Indiana, USA - JUL 11, 2014
Pours a light golden with decent eggshell head that leaves some foamy, dripping, intricate lace. Nose involves pine and grapefruit hop notes, along with rustic rye spice. Lightly sweet, big bitterness. Lighter body, dry, active, with a long bitter finish. Good brew, crisp and nicely hopped.
