50cl bottle @ Beer Temple. Opaque, almost pitch black color with a slight dark red glare coming through when held into the light. Full sized, lightly creamy, light brown head that lasts for a long time. Smell roasted malts, hops, some coffee, a hint of mocha. Taste malts, roasted malts, slightly burned, bitterness, hops and lightly some fruits. Medium body, medium to full carbonation. Very nice beer! The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head with medium retention
In long: Nose is intensely hoppy with a mix of floral and grapefruity hops. Some roast on the nose too and also a perfume sensation. Taste is harsh. Some totally burnt malts swimming in yeast, a little burnt coffee beans sensation and maybe some burnt black cake. With such a strong burnt malt flavor I can taste anything burnt, burnt tobacco, burnt wood, burnt anything, you name it. Anyway, except for the burnt flavor the malts remain pretty discreet and with all that yeast you feel like you’re drinking a fluffy ashes soup, I didn’t like this mouthfeel. Hops totally dominate this black IPA, the bitterness sensation is very high and razor sharp. Because of the high roastiness level there’s also a strong dryness sensation that joins the bitterness. There also something soapy in the finish and after-taste. Very tasty for sure but just not my style of Black IPA. And by the way, someone needs to teach the Russians about the much safer regular Roulette game.

Black with a large, fluffy white head. This Black IPA was dominated by the hops. But there were also roasted malt, grape and licorice. Really bitter.

Brune foncée presque noire, col épais crémeux collant au verre, café au lait presque moka.
Arôme malté, houblonné frais et fruité tropical et aiguille pin, cône frais, mais avec ce profile prenant de malt grillé/torréfié.
Palais est réchauffant même pour 7%, note café/grillé, avec une côté épais de houblon laissant une fine de bouche sèche, résineux, épineux de houblons, herbacé sur un fini épicé. Pours a deep brown/black colour with a frothy dark beige head. Citrus hopy aroma, with hints of licorice, roasty malt and some chocolate. Malty flvour with medium bitterness and notes og grapefruit or orange zest. Yet refreshing. full body, oily feel, soft carbonation and beautiful lingering long bitter finish. Nice.

Bottle. Pours black with a thick beige that sticks around. Nice aroma, pine, grapefruit and coffee. Taste has similar flavours but perhaps is less hoppy and the rich roasty malt comes through harder. Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving sheet lacing to pancake surface. Dark chocolate, caramel and resin aromas. (50cl bottle thanks to bu11zeye best by 2014) clear very deep brown, fine tan bubbles. Nose of fudge, agave, milk chocolate, light citrus. No gushing, but pouring turns into a differed build-up of towering and then overflowing very lacy cream-tan head over virtually black beer. Intense dry hops, much ureum, and a backbone of sweetish caramel, intensified by the ureum - as some sticky fluid dried up. Very bitter, hopoils galore, but also a hint at molasses - just the hopoverload precludes any sweetness to be perceived. Dry straw, hopbailes. Spritzy, very slick to sticky, oily, well-bodied; Black hopbomb. Don’t go looking for subtleties.
