Congratulations, you have just managed to get your hands on Russian Roulette - a rare kind of collaboration between Evil Twin Brewing (Denmark) and OMNIPOLLO (Sweden).

This beer would best be described as an IPA with a twist. A twist that will reveal itself first after you "bust some caps".

One thing remains sure however, if you like hops and the lush texture of a well crafted beer this will have you smiling as you face your destiny.

Good luck,
Jeppe (Evil Twin Brewing) and Henok (OMNIPOLLO)

bottled, thanks to bu11zeye, black colored pour, thick tan foam, bitter roasty chocolate with a burnt finish, pretty good

Benzai (16681) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - OCT 28, 2012
50cl bottle @ Beer Temple. Opaque, almost pitch black color with a slight dark red glare coming through when held into the light. Full sized, lightly creamy, light brown head that lasts for a long time. Smell roasted malts, hops, some coffee, a hint of mocha. Taste malts, roasted malts, slightly burned, bitterness, hops and lightly some fruits. Medium body, medium to full carbonation. Very nice beer!

In short: A highly roasted, yeasty and uber-bitter Black IPA. Too harsh and lacking balance
How: Bottle 500ml at Dr. Jekyll’s Pub, Oslo Norway
The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head with medium retention
In long: Nose is intensely hoppy with a mix of floral and grapefruity hops. Some roast on the nose too and also a perfume sensation. Taste is harsh. Some totally burnt malts swimming in yeast, a little burnt coffee beans sensation and maybe some burnt black cake. With such a strong burnt malt flavor I can taste anything burnt, burnt tobacco, burnt wood, burnt anything, you name it. Anyway, except for the burnt flavor the malts remain pretty discreet and with all that yeast you feel like you’re drinking a fluffy ashes soup, I didn’t like this mouthfeel. Hops totally dominate this black IPA, the bitterness sensation is very high and razor sharp. Because of the high roastiness level there’s also a strong dryness sensation that joins the bitterness. There also something soapy in the finish and after-taste. Very tasty for sure but just not my style of Black IPA. And by the way, someone needs to teach the Russians about the much safer regular Roulette game.

gyllenbock (9840) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 24, 2012
Bottle at Bishops Arms, Folkungagatan, October 2012. Black with a large, fluffy white head. This Black IPA was dominated by the hops. But there were also roasted malt, grape and licorice. Really bitter.

sebletitje (10293) - Enghien, BELGIUM - OCT 22, 2012
50cl bottle from Hopduvel, BB 2014.

garza (574) - Oslo (NO), Caracas (VE), VENEZUELA - OCT 9, 2012
Pours a deep brown/black colour with a frothy dark beige head. Citrus hopy aroma, with hints of licorice, roasty malt and some chocolate. Malty flvour with medium bitterness and notes og grapefruit or orange zest. Yet refreshing. full body, oily feel, soft carbonation and beautiful lingering long bitter finish. Nice.

BenH (3434) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 1, 2012
Bottle. Pours black with a thick beige that sticks around. Nice aroma, pine, grapefruit and coffee. Taste has similar flavours but perhaps is less hoppy and the rich roasty malt comes through harder. Medium body with a long very bitter finish that I quite like, sticks around for ages. Very nice

jtclockwork (17254) - , New Jersey, USA - SEP 29, 2012
Bottle. Pours black with tan brown head. Nose/taste of roasted chocolate malt, pine, chalky malt, resin, coffee roast and toasted black malt. Finishes chalky resin with toasted malt. Very dry resin. Medium body.

thornecb (6055) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 28, 2012
Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving sheet lacing to pancake surface. Dark chocolate, caramel and resin aromas. Dry and medium bodied with dark chocolate upfront turning to espresso before the lasting charred resin finish.

thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 27, 2012
(50cl bottle thanks to bu11zeye best by 2014) clear very deep brown, fine tan bubbles. Nose of fudge, agave, milk chocolate, light citrus. Taste of bakers chocolate, semi-sweet, very herbal, quite bitter that’s almost balanced by the fudgey flavor.
