COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When two gypsies team up with an arrogant bastard, there is bound to be some criminal activity...better to view this project as a conspiracy rather than a collaboration. The strengths of all involved were utilized to break the laws of style guidelines...dark with deception, mysteriously smoked, unexplainably dry, and intriguingly hoppy...maybe it’s best not to even talk about it.

On tap at Taps. Pours dark ruby with a persistent brown head. Mildly smokey aroma with a touch of chocolate. Flavor has a chocolate tinge as well, which actually ends up coming through more than any smokiness. The chocolate is pretty hollow though, like it’s a byproduct of making the beer as dark as it is. I get a little chili pepper on the back end. Not recognizable as a saison.

Dark red/brown pour with a light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, lemon, and a light smoke. Taste is lemon, roasted malt and the smoke, which comes out at the end. Roasted malt aftertaste. OK lacing.

pours a deep dark reddish brownish black with a thin tan head. aroma is smoke, yeast, floral hops and roasted grain. flavor is light smoke and surprisingly bitter. this is my first saison, so I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be tasting, but I like this beer.

Finally decided to rate it - mostly because I liked the Old Guardian smoked version, and this apparently used the same smoked malts. Aroma is lightly peppery and a hint of smoke. Flavor is light pepper, faint chocolate, some floral notes, and just a hint of smoke. Belgian funky yeast notes also slightly apparent. Inoffensive - not bad, but nothing really spectacular either. With this collar, I had expected something more in my face. Since it was smoked, I’m glad that it wasn’t more in my face, but it didn’t do a heck of a lot for me either.

On tap at Blue monk. Dark Brown nearly black pour with a light brown creme head. Smells a bit hoppy, a bit Smokey, some dark malts. Tastes a bit soapy up front from the hops. Mild bitterness, some mild roast/smoke. Not bad.

12oz bottle. Rating #311. Dense dark brown pour with a tan head. Roasty with a little fruit. Light roast and pretty bitter from that roast, lingering aftertaste. (2754)

Draft at blue monk. Darker cola looking pour. Light fruit and roast in aroma. Somewhat bitter, roast flavor. Ok

Pours dark chocolate colour with foamed tan head. Aroma has chocolate, smoke, and some doughy earthiness. Taste was sharp and begins with cocoa and smokiness but gives way to banana and coriander at the end.
