I generally try to steer clear of the Belgian (and Belgian influenced) beers and ales, but this was surprisingly good. Very delicate smoky aroma and taste. Mouthfeel was pleasantly fizzy and the finish was long and seemed to settle around the sides of my tongue. ansalon (4078) - Stockholm, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - MAY 2, 2013
Smoked dark fruitson the nose along with coffee, Taste is quite mild with notes of honey and cloves.

Pours dark with low latte brown head
Aromas of bretta, dark malts, hints of tropical fruits
Strange mouthfeel. Porter, saison and IPA in all.

Pours dark brown with medium tan head. Aroma of smoke, wheat, coriander, bretta, barnyard, dark malt. Taste is heavy roasted, smoke up front before a sweetish finish that ends light bitter and lingers. Body is light but still somewhat creamy with average carbonation. Thanks ansalon!

330 ml bottle. Rotterdam, Helsinki, Finland.
Dark reddish brown almost black colour with a small creamy off-white head.
Brown ale aroma with malt, mild caramel sweetness, soy sauce and mild hoppiness. The flavour is roasted malt, dry stout elements and dry liquorice.
There's nothing Saison in this, black it is and it's mildly smoked. So Black Smoked Saison is as far as it is as a beer style.

Picked thiss up in Denver while on vacation.
Nice, dark bottle pour. Pillowy, tan head, body is clear-dark, like a Coke.
Aromas of plum, a bit of spice, yeast and cooked raisins. No hops aromas present, malts are faint. Could have used a bit more smoke I think....
This brew is has a sweet wash to it up front, with a nicely balanced amount of hops tones. Fizzy, carbonation mouthfeel, a small bit of sticky feel on the finish.
This is a nice smoked saison, but minus the smoke I think it needs to really make it stand out. Drinkable and smooth, good but not great. jkwood04 (5452) - Connecticut, USA - APR 21, 2013
12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of spiciness, some roasted and smoked notes, light green apple, and a nice bitterness. Flavor the same, with a really interesting mix of everything. Average texture. A cool beer. trujahwarrior (510) - Monroe, Washington, USA - APR 19, 2013
Pours a dark brown color with a thick tan head that leaves really good lacing. Smells of smoked malt, Belgian yeast, black pepper, roasted malt, and grass. Tastes of all the same things in the smell with a nice sweet smoked flavor that shines in the aftertaste. As it warms you can taste a slight oak flavor as well. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with great carbonation. Overall this is a great collaboration with 3 great breweries involved. Really liked the oak smoked malts added it makes it unique. Subtle, sensuous aroma - first noticably Belgian with a tangy/yeasty fruitiness, then the understated smoke comes through. Inky, decent tan head, good faux-painted bottle. Acidic, tangy and creosotic. Slippery mouthfeel, medium body, pitchy finish. This is more like an awkward juggling act rather than a cohesive performance. Meh. Market Square Liquors, TImberlane.
