Bottle purchased at Blacklick Wine & Spirits. Clear reddish brown pour with a medium beige head. Aroma consisting of malt, caramel, pepper and roast. Malty flavor with pepper, roast and smoke before a roasty finish. Not bad. PotjeBier (3838) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAR 15, 2013

Not at all bad but a tad bleak i would apperciate more hops but not bad. Surapy dry after taste KyotoLefty (10810) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 15, 2013
Smoky nose, chocolate, coffee, light spice. Slightly cloudy black with a low, fine tan head. Flavor of spicy yeast, light smoke, coffee, licorice, a bit of dark cocoa. Dry and a bit raw. Bitter finish, though not exactly hoppy. A bit metallic, with some dark fruits and spicy astringency. Somewhat thin body. Very dry, herbal finish. OK, but not what I want in a saison.

Pours ruby-mahogany into the glass, with a decent unassuming tan head that leaves soapy window wash lacing. The nose is of dark fruits. The flavors are semi-dry, of dark berries, smoke, some light hay and barnyard accents, Crystal malt and burnt toast. The finish is a toasted bitter, with LOTS of carbon (indicative of burnt toast... spot on). The palate is extremely smooth and provides a slick, velvety quaff. Very unique for a Saison. Indeed, curious and interesting. Nice experiment here for the 3 brewers.

Pours a very dark black-brown, darker than I expected with a light tan 1.5 finger head. Smells yeasty with some roasted characteristics and a slight smokiness. Flavor is slightly sweet and fruity to start off before revealing a mix of a peppery smoke and yeast. Finish is dry and slightly bitter. Mouth feel is pretty nice on this one, light to medium body with a light crisp carbonation. Overall an OK beer, not a huge Saison fan in the first place so wasn’t expecting to love it. Could use a little more of a smoke presence in my opinion. Vogod (23) - FINLAND - MAR 8, 2013
Black with thin but steady head Farmland, roast, smoke, liquorice in aroma. Medium body, bubbly. Very saisonlike farmy taste with slight roast and aggressive hopping. Aftertaste bitterness and roasted malt. Some chocolate. Good crossover-style with dominating saison. tiong (7754) - Espoo, FINLAND - MAR 8, 2013

Pours pitch black with a smooth light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, spices, hints of ripe fruits,
smoke and yeast. Taste is an interesting mix of smokey, mildly roasty and hoppy notes with hints of spices, farmyard and yeast. Finish is hoppy, sweetish and malty with hints of berries, roastiness and smoke. Nice, quite interesting black saison.
