12 oz bottle from Spirits Crossroads. Poured a good looking medium/thinner density dark black body with an average sized foamy beige head. Aroma was interesting and nice, notes of light smoke, roastiness, touch of chocolate from the dark malts, wet bread, saison spiceyness, wet white pepper, older citrus rinds. Medium/fuller body with average to stronger carbonation that leaves a creamy feel that is well balanced by the carbonation and an aveage aftertaste that is dry...just normally dry not "unexplainably dry". Flavor is a tad short of the aroma. Notes of wet burnt bread crusts, slight white pepper, citrus rinds, earthy, older fruits and some solid chocolate notes towards the end. I wasn’t expecting much from this but am very pleasantly surprised. Headbanger (3999) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - NOV 28, 2012
12oz bottle 11/28/12 (Binny’s Downers Grove)-42° in Tulip. Pours a dar brown almost balck with ruby hues. Aroma of yeast, smoke, chocolate, and hops. Taste of yeast, chocolate, smoke, and hops. This medium bodied brew is a different take but it comes across well balanced and tasty. talon1117 (1152) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 27, 2012
The pour is a rusty, deep garnet with a creamy, pillowy, pale tan, moderate head which settles to a thin froth and leaves similar lace. The nose is a bit scattered but still very pleasant; lighter fruit (passionfruit, blood orange), leather, faint smoke, cocoa, some light roast, some floral, and molasses. The flavor is more smoked with light campfire, very earthy roast, still leathery, some caramel underneath, still floral, and orangey. The palate is lively, less than medium, very dry, and somewhat coating. The finish is long and dry with leather, smoke, earthy roast, and faint orange. The smoke and roast matched nice leather and bitterness, but the fruity esters really held the beer together. Truly something different and smoke beers are not my thing, but this was nice. gripweed57 (2463) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - NOV 27, 2012
12 ounce bottle. Pours an opague black color with a thick, bubbly taupe head. Faint roasted malt aroma hints at cocoa, yeast and burnt wood. Rather dry and yeasty upfront. Subtle bittersweet chocolate with an underlying smokiness. Spicy, peppery hops in the finish. Silky mouthfeel and medium bodied. Unique and interesting; definitely worth seeking out. degowop (34) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - NOV 26, 2012
decent saison with malty flavor, light black color. manageable amount of carbonation for a saison, with just a hint of smoke. intriguing style, but in the end, rather unremarkable.

Pours black into a Sam glass. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Dark caramel and earthy spruce aromas. Sweet spruce upfront turning chocolaty and dry in the lasting woody finish. smaynard6000 (1167) - Apopka, Florida, USA - NOV 25, 2012
12oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown with medium beige head. Aroma is citrusy. Citrusy lemon flavor with some smokiness. Mildly bitter finish and surprisingly drinkable. Quite unique and equally good. jcnielsen (3412) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 24, 2012

Bottle @ Exira Beer Summit III. Pours a deep brown appearance with a small, cream colored head. Minty spicy, a bit woody smoky, lightly peppery aroma. Burnt chocolate malty, sprucey, slight smoky/tar, light black peppery flavor. Kind of interesting but not my favorite. PGHbeer77 (571) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2012
12 oz. Bottle. A decent saison of a strange nature. Malty roasty scent. Pitch black pour with a tan head to ring. Med/light body, frothy feel. Clove, spice fronted taste, subtle, with a big malty roasty finish and a smoky aftertaste.
