On tap at Taps in Petaluma. Pours a dark black color with a bit of head. Tastes like a mild saison with some hop flavors. Very intriguing and enjoyable.

12oz bottle I think that I picked up while in NY. Aromas of light smoke, some bready yeast, some light roast and chocolate too. Flavors of chocolate, roast, bread, fair amount of yeast, and light smoke. Body seemed a touch thin. Solid beer like almost everything else in this series. jjgmd (2215) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - MAY 14, 2013
Pours a very deep dark color. Nose is heavy malt and chocolate with some spice. Taste is full of malt, with sweetness and smokiness.....with a myriad of spices. Finish is bitter and lingers with the same complex flavors and spices. Quaff Score 7 / 10 dlovell2 (2213) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 5, 2014
UPDATED: APR 6, 2014 Dark brown with tan head. Smoky, roasted malt, brown sugar aroma. Sweet roasted malt start followed with some tartness with slight dark chocolate and smoke notes finished with some citrus hops flavors in finish. conway (2210) - - DEC 10, 2012
Pours black with a big off white head. Aroma is saison like yeast with a rye like note. Taste is standard saison with a small but prominent burst of smoke out front. Smooth body, but missing the pleasant lively carb I like in a saison. More interesting than good.

Dark, even ruby brown with a cm of tan head. Aroma is slightly burnt caramel with light phenolics. First taste is bitter chocolate with burnt, herby, lemony acridness that punches in as a totally separate note and finishes in slightly smokey sulfur. Meh. $4/12oz katrinaez (2147) - norristown, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 16, 2015
UPDATED: DEC 17, 2015 I like it enough, but it isn?t what it they said. More of a black ale than saison. The smoke is very light at the end. The saison taste is a flash in the pan and it?s gone to the ale only taste. It is a nice beer, but the rating is because I expected more. Bottle oteyj (2139) - New Hampshire, USA - DEC 4, 2012
Courtesy of Nick. Black pour with a foamy tan head. Bacon and campfire lead to caramel, cherry, toffee, and assertive spicy hoppiness. Medium body with decent effervescence. Really nice, but didn’t wow me. mcox90 (2107) - Wilton, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 12, 2013
12 oz bottle. Pours an opaque mahogany with a one finger khaki head. Little bit of thin, weak lace. Light smoke on the aroma with Belgian yeast, hint of bubblegum & grass. Earthy smelling. Lots of roasted malt flavor. Some dark fruit taste with a pretty substantial hop bite on the back end. Light bodied with ample carbonation. Easy to drink. Interesting brew. mikem409 (2027) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - JAN 2, 2013
