Thin and watery, not much smoke, not much spice, not much hoppiness. Not sure what they were going for. hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 3, 2013

"Dark, malty for a saison. Still herbal with a little barnyard and a little smoke. Obviously well made and unique, wish I could get this kind a thing regularly. "

Bottle. Pours a nice deep brown to black with a medium sized head. Some light estery yeast and musk on the nose. I don’t really get much smoke, just smells like a nice floral saison. Medium bodied, esters and a bit of grassiness. Really no smoke or roast coming through here. Sweet wheat comes through, a bit of muskiness. Drinking this blind I’d never think this was dark in color, none of that comes through at all. Tasty but not what I was hoping for. madsberg (11770) - Søborg, DENMARK - MAR 25, 2013

330 ml bottle. Rotterdam, Helsinki, Finland.
Dark reddish brown almost black colour with a small creamy off-white head.
Brown ale aroma with malt, mild caramel sweetness, soy sauce and mild hoppiness. The flavour is roasted malt, dry stout elements and dry liquorice.
There's nothing Saison in this, black it is and it's mildly smoked. So Black Smoked Saison is as far as it is as a beer style.

Bottle... Pours clear and dark with a small, fizzy, off-white head. This smells like a misguided pairing of caramel and beef jerkey. Medium to full-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. This tastes a lot like beef jerkey as well... with some herbal notes. Crisp, deeply-roasted finish.
