COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When two gypsies team up with an arrogant bastard, there is bound to be some criminal activity...better to view this project as a conspiracy rather than a collaboration. The strengths of all involved were utilized to break the laws of style guidelines...dark with deception, mysteriously smoked, unexplainably dry, and intriguingly hoppy...maybe it’s best not to even talk about it.

Pours a clean mahogany colour with a short lived off white head. The aroma is a bit of spice, some musk, lemon, smoke if your really try and smell it. The flavour is pretty much everything the aroma says its going to be, ends on a sort of bitter/sour note. I’m not to familiar with saisons, but I don’t get the sense that this is really anything ground breaking. Solid brew though.

Bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Fairly vigorous dark brown pour, a rocky head settling down to reveal some beige dustiness to the beer, which seems to evoke its ingedients somehow. Dry straw notes and yeast in the nose, along with subdued smoke. Lively mouthfeel, not quite as full as desired in places. Flavors are earthy for the most part, but there are some prominent chocolate notes that meld fairly nicely with the smoky and grainy dimensions. Pretty good.

Pours dark brown with large tan head out of bottle. Oak/chocolate aroma. Strong oak flavor with hint of chocolate. Smooth beer with a sweet finish. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasted on 5/8/13 from a capped 12oz bottle purchased at Sun Devil. Pours clear cola brown with an average tan head that slowly recedes to average, even lace. The nose is spicy Saison yeast with a touch of marshmallow, and plenty of dark roast with a hint of green hops. The flavor is more focused on the citrus hops and Saison yeast up front, moving to the interesting marshmallow thing, with the roasted coffee on the back of the palate. The body is on the lighter side of medium with lively carbonation and a long spicy yeast and roasted bitter finish.

Light brown head is thin and short, dark brown/black. Light arome has licorice, coffee, caramel, ash, slightly roasted. Crisp round, bitter, dry, highly roasted nearly burned, long roastrd bitter finish, berry also. Tasty but quite much roasted. Would not drink many of these.

0,33l bottle @ Vihreä Haltiatar. Pours very dark red with a low off-white head. Aroma is malts with some smoked ham. Flavor is malts, grapefruit, smoked ham and some hops. Decent stuff.

Another odd beer. Is gunsmoke the perfect crime? Pours dark brown with good head and lacing. Light smokiness with burnt, bitter finish. Average carbonation. Some oak here as well. A little hay or grass in aroma. On tap at Blue Monk.

Draft at blue monk. Darker cola looking pour. Light fruit and roast in aroma. Somewhat bitter, roast flavor. Ok

Finally decided to rate it - mostly because I liked the Old Guardian smoked version, and this apparently used the same smoked malts. Aroma is lightly peppery and a hint of smoke. Flavor is light pepper, faint chocolate, some floral notes, and just a hint of smoke. Belgian funky yeast notes also slightly apparent. Inoffensive - not bad, but nothing really spectacular either. With this collar, I had expected something more in my face. Since it was smoked, I’m glad that it wasn’t more in my face, but it didn’t do a heck of a lot for me either.

Dark red/brown pour with a light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, lemon, and a light smoke. Taste is lemon, roasted malt and the smoke, which comes out at the end. Roasted malt aftertaste. OK lacing.
