3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours an opaque deep, dark brown--just shy of black. Tremendously huge head (despite my best efforts to control it during the pour) that is dark tan in color and pillowy, yet dense in texture. As head settles somewhat, a good bit of lacing remains. Aroma is of peat and licorice, with some piney, resinous character in the background. Smoky, but not in a salty, rauchbier way. As pronounced as the aroma was, I was completely unprepared the for wallop of flavor. Strong doesn’t even begin to describe how it hit me--flavor of sour cherries mixed with smoked wood. Some roasted malts are evident, as is hop bitterness, but there is really a sour-sweet flavor taste driving the beer. It’s rather unexpected to be honest. Although the alcohol is not--very forward. Palate is also unexpected, as the beer is surprisingly watery. In sum: A flavorful smoked stout, but one that may not be to everyone’s liking. Worth a try, however, if you’re a fan of beers like Bell’s Cherry Stout.

Piana obfita drobna, zdobi szkło, dośc szybko redukuje sie do niewielkiej i tak pozostaje. Kolor czarny. Aromat ciemne słody czekolad, wędzonka dymna, ogniskowa, lekko słodki, niezbyt intensywny. Smak bogaty, gorzka czekolada, palone słody lekki kwasek od nich, kawa, wyczuwalne ale nie dominujące nuty słodu wędzonego, umiarkowana słodycz i owoce suszone, nuty przyprawowe, ostre. Alkohol ukryty, goryczka niewielka ale wyczuwalna. Smaki grają i tworzą wyśmienite piwo. Bardzo dobre. erikaraeb (325) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - NOV 23, 2017
On tap. Only a touch smoky, despite the name, and sadly overbearing on the artificial sweetness. A pretty plain porter, to be honest. ironcontra (494) - ATL, Georgia, USA - NOV 9, 2017
Tap (I'm not sure how fitting for stouts that is). Relatively low bod, somewhat smokey, but less than the brewdog coffee and cigarettes, a bit of hoppy tartness, low carbonation. OK ALIBALI (2707) - Kiel, GERMANY - NOV 9, 2017

Bottle. Heavily smoked aroma with hints of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Classic dark porter appearance with a small yellow head. Smoked and sweet malt flavour - coffee, dark chocolate, christmas pudding. There is also a touch of bitterness as well. Thick and creamy texture. More smoke in the finish. cglans (388) - - MAR 31, 2017

Bottle on train. Pours almost black, dark brown head. Nose is gentle smoke, chocolate, quite big liquorice, sweetish. Tastes sweet liquorice, gentle smoke, roast, chocolate, caramel, very smooth but could be even slightly thicker and richer. Very good anyway. AndySnow (8322) - Huddinge, SWEDEN - FEB 23, 2017
