3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thick black pour, mocha head with a nice, glass coating appearance and some decent lacing. Aroma of smoke, coffee, burnt caramel, coffee and chocolate. Flavor has a slightly more oily, charred presence along with more coffee, booziness and a good helping of dark fruit and piney hops. Thick syrupy, creamy feel on entry, slightly drier, syrupy feel after that with a lightly chalky finish and light to medium strength slightly sharp carbonation. Good stuff, complex and flavorful, has a nice boozy warmth without tasting too boozy in the taste or smell and tons of roast, coffee and just the right amount of smoke and hops to keep it interesting. Tasty for sure, but at $9/12oz., not a repeat buy, cut that by 1/2 or 2/3 and I might think about it. Too many better beers for less.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours jet black with a 1/2 finger mocha colored head which dissipates rapidly. Aroma is coffee, raisins & dark fruits, and chocolate. Smells hot. Taste is roasted malts up front, chocolate in the middle, with a strong coffee back end as the alcohol warms on the way down. There is a slight bitterness with the front end malts as well. Alcohol taste is well hidden, but there is a warming sensation. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy. Overall a very good coffee stout.

Pours a deep brown, pitch black in the glass; thin brown head and looking exactly like a French press coffee. Aromas are what you’d expect: a bunch of coffee & roasted malts, but there’s actually a bit of hops right behind it as well. Taste is coffee-driven, comparable to Sumatra + Ethiopian blends; you get smoky earthiness, chocolate, and a bit of citrus sweetness. Finishes with extra dark chocolate with still some lingering espresso notes. Getting a lot of hops after warming up but not sure if that earthy bitterness is from the coffee. The booze is mostly hidden & noticeable only at the very end. Thick & chewy texture, low carb, finishes dry as hell. Recommended for black coffee drinkers!

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma - astringent coffee roast, caramelized sugar, dry powdered chocolate.
Appearance - the body is black, the head brown. The head is around 1" and slowly fades into a nice level of foam. Some crowned lacing and alcohol cloying wash of suds.
Taste - is rich with some pleasantly astringent coffee. There is some dark chocolate similar to the taste of a Snow Cap nonpareil, marshmallow, there is also some alcohol. There is a small spice - not much though, hardly noticeable. This is a showcase of few ingredients, but the best of those ingredients. Superb!
Palate - full body, thick almost chewy texture, carbonation is average, and finish is semi-sweet and slightly astringent.

This is quite stellar. The coffee really isn’t that over aggressive. The stout flavor is delicious. Good stuff.
