Sample at the Ale Wine & Spirits Evil Twin tasting on 05/19/2011. Pours a hazy amber-gold color with a medium thick off-white head that burns away to an outer ring eventually. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of piney hops and citrus. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, earthy malt and pine. The finish is earthy with some fruit left behind. Hopefully the 10% is still around to try because this one did not do much for me.

16.9 ounce bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a cloudy orange/amber color with an inch and a half frothy off-white head. Head retention is good, and there is a lot of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is citrusy (grapefruit, orange peel), pine and a bit of floral hops, along with some sweet malt. It tastes mostly like citrusy (grapefruit, lemon and orange peel) and pine hops, and a bit of malt. There’s also a nice lingering bitter hoppy finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s somewhat sticky and slick with good carbonation. I think this is a good brew, now I’m looking forward to trying their other beers.

Bottle 500ml. @ Th. 4th. Alvinne Craft Beer Festival (ACBF) 2011, De Kasteelhoeve, Doorniksesteenweg 314, Outrijve (Avelgem), Belgium.

Unclear medium orange colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light heavy hoppy, grapefruit, peel bitter, citrus. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110403]

500. Pours a murky dark amber with a big rocky whitish head and plenty of drippy lace. Enormous and amazing piney nose, just a fresh forest scent of the most pleasant variety. Highwater mark for piney IPA noses. Creamy medium body with lively carb. There’s caramel on the mid palate and probably some toast as well, but, wow, there’s a lot of oily, acidic, tannic, biting pine flavor there. Ripping and stomping. Long piney resin finish. What this beer has to do with winter holidays, I haven’t the foggiest idea, but it certainly is delicious.

16.9 oz bottle. Clear pale orange with a fluffy white head.Nose is pine and spruce with hints of toffee and dough. Creamy medium body with a soft tingle, finishing with a bite. Taste is juniper, orange peel and lime. A citrus explosion. Very good but expensive.

Very pale golden straw pour with a tight white head. The aroma is lovely. Loads of pine and citrus with a soft resinous bitterness. As it warms up the bitterness really picks up - enamal-peeling bitterness. Lightly fruity and very aromatic. As it warms up there’s a crapload of zesty citrus. Great stuff.
