Italy has a certain “je ne sais quoi” – fab food culture, highly decadent history of art and cool countryside. Some might argue the people are loud and flamboyant, they steal our women, and their soccer players melodramatically flop on the pitch. Listen – that’s all part of the secret Italian ingredient – keep it cool, confident, arrogant and extravagant. Forza Italia!

Malt beverage with almonds, vanilla beans and coffee added.

If you would like to smell & taste sweet chocolate, figs, nuts, boozy, molasses, go ahead this is your beer. Not really complex in mouthfeel, one dimensional sweet. No umami character, no lingering aftertaste. I don’t get the hype about this one. Not my cup of tea. Meh.

Pour is dark and thin head. Aroma of bread, nuts and fruit. Flavor is a bitter sweet nuttiness, sweet on the finish. Very smooth and drinkable. A style of its own. Interesting and worth tasting.

AgentAle (1846) - Fort Mcmurray, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 19, 2014
Aroma is very rich chocolate, mocha, espresso, fig and deep sweet malts. The taste is similar ;very very sweet and almost chewy mouthfeel that finishes with light bitterness. For 11.5% this is pretty smooth. Far too sweet for my liking. Appearance is a dark body with a beige head that retains fairly well.

Richly flavored and decadent (though not as much so as the imperial version). Smooth amaretto and coffee with a huge malt nose and flavor. Enjoyed this one!

This rich black beer has an amazing sweet coffee ice cream aroma. It has flavors if coffee and chocolate. It starts of really mild and develops into a more complex flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drought at Torst. Very dark brown with creamy tan head, vamilla and coffee aroma, tastes like a vanilla-coffee ice cream, low carbonation, thick body, long finish. Great brew!

Pours a thick jet black with a half finger of tan head. Nose is booze, roast, chocolate, nutty, dark fruits. Taste is roasty, chocolate, a bit milky, a bit nutty, some coffee on the finish. Mouthfeel is super creamy, really good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black of color with a brown creamy head. An aroma of coffee, melasse and grass. A flavor of roasted malt, sweets and chocolate. Gooser beer :(

RLiddell (142) - Valrico, Florida, USA - MAY 20, 2014
Shared bottle on May 17th. Pours opaque with a fluffy tan two finger head. Nose reminds me of the Biscotti spread that your spread on sweet crackers. Chocolate, almonds and some hints of coffee and dark fruits. The taste is amazing, following the nose and having a viscous mouth feel. Hope that I can find this again!

Bottle, BB 2015 - gusher! Pours black with a lasting and lacing huge creamy thick brown head. Aroma is sweet, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted malt, earthy coffee, sweet dark fruit, burnt malt and milky. Taste is moderate+ sweet and moderate bitter. Body is medium, texture is smooth, carbonation is moderate. Mid palate is rather dark-fruity sweet but finishes balanced and roasted.
