330 mL bottle shared with ebone1988. The pour is a nice dark black, but pours watery and flat, with a few legs but no lace. The aroma is nice. There is a good chocolate and a heavy malt. I like the sweetness, and the bourbon is really nice. It’s slightly boozy, but just fantastic. The flavor is even better. The chocolate and malty aspect is perfect. It is petty dry and heavy on the booze on the finish. The mouth feel is watery and hardly medium bodied. The lack of carb is huge. I wish this had something going on. The aftertaste is strangely chocolatey and a bit malty with a hint of oxidation and a growing booziness on the finish. This is something else. 7 3 8 3 14 ebone1988 (2345) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - FEB 25, 2018
Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is booze, wood, vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, good. Appearance is black, brown but mostly lacking head, poured decently thick. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, barrel, roasted malt, coffee. Mouthfeel is heavy body, basically flat carbonation, deep roasted bourbon barrel aftertaste. Overall, probably slightly past its prime but the flavor is nice. mfhennig (286) - McHenry County, Illinois, USA - FEB 26, 2017
Looks like dirty motor oil coming out of the crankcase.
Aroma is burnt coffee, bitter chocolate, ash’n smoke.
Flavor matches with the addition of dried plums and fig.
This is a thick chewy AIS.
An outstanding beer, I cant find anything to criticize. thepatrickman (1503) - Lewes, East Sussex, ENGLAND - MAR 30, 2016
From notes (10/20/15). Bottle shared by Jeremy at Earth Eagle members’ party. An immense amount of bourbon flavor is in this beer, which only makes a rich beer even richer, considering how full bodied and full flavored the original EMJ is. Very good, but I’m glad I shared the bottle -- this would have killed my liver and my taste buds if I’d taken it down myself! raoul_duke (270) - - JAN 28, 2016
The nose on this outstanding. Coffee and bourbon. Lots of alcohol on the front, nice coffee flavor. The booze is a bit outrageous.

Dark opaque brown, tan head. Espresso, molasses. Light spice, sweet. Long oily finish, heavy. Good. b3shine (9422) - Indiana, USA - SEP 4, 2015
Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a very slightly translucent dull black with bubbly tan lacing. Smells of dark malt, chocolate, oak, vanilla, and a bit of bourbon booziness and oxidation. Tastes like it smells with a smooth but warming medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Good beer. fjb (39) - BRAZIL - AUG 25, 2015
excelent exemplar of bourbon barrel aging. complex, good alcohol, warmth. chocolate, cofee, nuts. pressboxjoe (464) - , New Jersey, USA - MAR 29, 2015
Bottle. No head on pour for this pitch black beer but developed a ring being carried from room to room. Smell of ruined hops. Taste of licorice, molasses, prunes, raisins, cherries, chocolate. superspak (6504) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - MAR 19, 2015
330 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in late 2014. Pours dense pitch black color with no head and a thin ring of bubbles. Minimal lacing. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, dark bread, fudge, raisin, prune, vanilla, toffee, oak, bourbon, and roast/oak earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, dark bread, fudge, raisin, prune, leather, soy sauce, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, smoke/char, and roast/oaky earthiness. Good amount of roast/charred bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, dark bread, fudge, raisin, prune, leather, soy sauce, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, smoke/char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with a nice roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Minimal carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, moderately slick, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a light-moderate warming lingering after the finish; but it’s not boozy. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged imperial stout. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the big ABV and lacking carbonation. A highly enjoyable offering.
