12 oz bottle from Applejack into a snifter. Black appearance with a brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, light espresso, caramel, dark fruits, vanilla and leather. Similar flavor, moderately sweet and mildly bitter. Medium to full body with ample carbonation and a lingering finish. Complex and pretty good, but ILYWMS is better. tillmac62 (767) - Gaffney, South Carolina, USA - JAN 15, 2015
BOD 231/14. Pours dark as NYC during a black out. Excellent head volume, lacing and retention.
Nice nose of dark fruit (plums, dates) over a deep dark chocolate and molasses sweetness coupled with notes of roast and caramel. As it warms, anise becomes noticeable.
Light full body with an excellent creamy texture. Normal carbonation with just a bit of effervescence in the finish.
The flavor profile is intense, quite complex but lacks a bit in balance due to the strong alcohol background that tends to override what would otherwise be an outstanding stout. It begins with an oily sweetness over an anise background. As the anise fades, the rich malt flavors separate into chocolate, molasses and caramel. The middle is a significant rush of bitterness from alcohol, roast and hops. As the bitterness subsides, coffee and burned malt notes come to the forefront over a distinct alcohol background. The finish begins with a fading of molasses sweetness into the alcohol and the associated alcohol bite and burn at the back of the throat. it closes with a bit of dryness from the alcohol.

This one poured a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma was of deep roast malt, some dark.chocolate and coffee. Flavor was heavy roast, but not to the point of being ashy like some of their impys. Well rounded and tasty for sure. ogivlado (8316) - Zagreb, CROATIA - JAN 13, 2015
Bottled 355ml. -from Svijet Piva Zagreb. Rated while waited New Year 2015. Oily black coloured, medium sized brown head, chocolate in the nose. Roasted malt, chocolate, soy sauce and heavy licorice with warming alcohol in the finish. Enjoyable. koleminer20 (4171) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JAN 11, 2015
12 oz bottle. The pour is jet black, used motor oil with a dark khaki head that falls down to a ring leaving some gold lace. The aroma is good. Heavy on roasted malt and licorice, but there is a delightful blackberry presence here. Maybe a little molasses on the back end. The flavor is definitely more based on the malts. There is a bitter licorice on the back end and then them a roasty sweetness. The mouth feel is oily, and doesn't hang around. There is a light carbonation and it's a little thin on the back end. The aftertaste is lingeringly dry and roasty. Not bad

6oz pour at Churchkeys D.C. Black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasty with molasses, mocha, vanilla, anise, dark rum. Lots of chocolate and vanilla, some tar, prunes, balancing bitterness that creeps up a little.
