hohops (1068) - Kent, ENGLAND - DEC 26, 2016
Appearance- pitch black, a few bubbles rising, a half-finger tan head which dissipates to leave a ring of fizzy bubbles. Aroma- fudge, chocolate, coffee, vanilla undertones, caramel, burnt brown sugar, treacle toffee, rich dark chocolate, tar. Taste- molasses, melted bitter chocolate, dark chocolate fudge cake, tiramisu, after dinner coffee, burnt charred malt, bitter roasty finish. Full and thick mouthfeel, nice amount of carbonation, lasting clingy finish. Very nice stout.

Chocolate, soy sauce, cola, raisin, dark fruits, earth, I get bitterness and alcohol warmth also. Slightly oily body. Pretty solid.

Great reddish coal color and especially great lacing. Cola and dark fruit flavors. Enough nody but not overwhelming. A tad sweet but great.

Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy brown head that left great lacing. The aroma was dry, smokey and woody with a bit of coffee and cola. The flavor was dry, malty and a bit smoky with vanilla, wood, grain and faint notes of coffee and cocoa. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Alcohol well contained. Decent.
