Note: was holding on to this one to compare it with the "AT a NY hotel room", but apparently my beer drinking buddy drank his bottle by accident. :p

The original 2010 vintage brewed at De Molen. A gusher. Massive foamy brown head fills the snifter and takes ages to die down - typical of some of the earlier batches of De Molen beers I’ve had. Doesn’t leave any lacing. Smell is liquorice, molasses, roast, also some lemon and under-ripe satsuma. Body is medium and, unsurprisingly given all the gushing, very foamy. Taste is sweet liquorice, burnt coffee beans, heavy on the ash and roasted malts. The finish is a little astringent and the aftertaste is chocolatey. The body is a real let down although it becomes smoother over time. The flavour makes up for it anyway. patricks110 (2668) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 1, 2014
Finally getting around to this one. Pours a completely black colour with a frothy beige head. The nose is heavily roasted and malty with hint of espresso and spice. Smooth mid palate with rich dessert like malts. Smooth and sweet with a nice complexity overall.

Draft sample. Poured black color with an average fizzy frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt and spice aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark spice sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Very good complex brew. The looks could not be better. Oily, black liquid matched with light brown creamy foam. Excellent. sagmarium (97) - SPAIN - OCT 19, 2013
A super-gusher, spraying half the train wagon’s inside, leaving a pleasant odor for the remaining 3.5 hours of the ride. The little beer hitting the glass was more or less black, with a dense, tan head. Coffee, some more coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts and some licorice in the aroma.
