wedgie9 (2702) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 30, 2011
Tasted in July 2011 from a 330mL bottle at Lush Roscoe. Pours cloudy orange with a massive beige head that slowly recedes to even lace. The nose is intense dusty and resin hops with caramel malt, and an added oaky caramelized character that I assume is from the chardonnay. The flavor features the caramel malt, and an obvious chardonnay fruit up front, moving to the intense dusty and resin hops. The body is full with average carbonation and a long bitter resin hops finish.

Explodes out of bottle with a five+ finger off-white head that fades very slowly to a thin layer leaving chunks of lace. Cloudy amber color with some yeast left in bottle. Grapefruit hops and alcohol nose. Good carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Flavor has some caramel with grapefruit hops and alcohol. Expensive at $10.10 for a 330ml bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me. Best by 2015.

phaleslu (10325) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 24, 2011
330 ml bottle from Wine and Cheese Place. Pours a murky, dull golden brown color with an overactive, massive off-white head that gushes a bit out of the bottle and eventually settles into an uneven cap with heavy lace in the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops, with both orange and grapefruit, some spicy and floral notes, caramel malts, dry grains, and leaves. Flavor of pineapple, mango, grapefruit, floral hops, caramel malts, pine resin, and booze. Medium-bodied, with an oily, juicy mouthfeel that coats the palate. Medium carbonation. Interesting take on a DIPA.

From the bottle. Powerful aroma of grapes. Flavor was similarly dominated by grapes, with hops and citrus beneath. Finished fairly long. I remember feeling very refreshed after drinking it.

marcus (10326) - Sacramento, California, USA - SEP 7, 2011
Bottle from Star Grocery, Berkeley. Pours copper with a huge beige head that doesn’t stop growing for a while and a sweet toffee aroma. I waited and waited and finally drank the head. It was pretty tastym but a bit airy as you might expect. Eventually, I reached the liquid. It was rather worth waiting for and turned out to be a fairly well-balanced brew with a nice caramel malt flavor and a smooth more bitter finish.

12oz. Bottle (at 10.5%ABV per the Bottle): Aroma of hops, malt, light caramel, and some wood. Poured deep amber/brown in color with a massive, half-glass, foamy, loose at the bottom, but creamy and dense at the top, frothy, tan/beige head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout. Hazy. Sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malt, hops, wood, light caramel, and some resin. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, caramel, wood, resin finish is lightly dry. 10.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

Strykzone (7422) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - SEP 2, 2011
11.2 oz. bottle from TWCP. A huge light tan head slowly collapses. It sits on an opaque mid brown beer. A bit toffee nose that also has plenty of hops that are floral and pine. The first sip is big complex fruit. Passion, grapes, and citrus are represented. The hops are dry and bitter with bready malt and some wood. The mouth feel is prickly. Alcohol is well hidden. The finish was tart and bitter and still had wonderful complexity. This beer is bold and aggressive. It is also all over the place and offers some surprises.

Camons (12671) - Hasselager, DENMARK - AUG 23, 2011
Bottle @ Home. Pours dark amber / burnt orange with a huge creamy offwhite head. Aroma of bready malt, caramel, fruity hops, peach, grapefruit, grapes. Taste is bready malt, caramel, wood, grapes, both sweet and bitter hops, peach, oranges, grapefruit, vinery notes. Full body, soft carbonation, dry and bitter finish. Different, and very good. 230811

bhensonb (15338) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 22, 2011
Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours darkly orange amber with a huge foamy/creamy off-white head. Lots of floral and maybe citrus hop. Full bodied. Foamy carb. Very hoppy over some softly roasted lush caramel. Weird that. Then the hop turns fresh non-citrus non- berry fruity. The whole beer is just a lush experience. Brilliant.
