Draft at Torst- lovely black with blood red highlights around the glass- The barrel aspects meld wonderfully with the underlying deliciously smooth stout- strong, sweet- yet not cloying- with the big roasted tones balancing everything out and the port mellowing what is left with some merlot/vineous notes- my only complaint was an unpleasant lacker/medicinal/pheonlic type aromatic at the way end when it was pretty warm- note, torst served it at proper temp, warmer to begin with- but thats it- otherwise, wonderful.

02.05.2014, 0,33l bottle shared with ClubGonzo @ ?rsted ?lbar:
Small dark brown slightly bubbly mediumlasting. Aroma is slightly sweet sour-ish fruity, dark sour fruits, dark sugar, dark malts, grass, licorice, coffee, dried dark fruits, citrus peel, alcohol. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish fruity, oak, dark fruits, hay, grass, dark sugar, dark malts, coffee, licorice, berry skin, weeds. Medium to longlasting bitterness, dry slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Nice, but maybe a bit too dry oaky in the long run.

0,05l from bottle at Himmeriget. First edition. black colour, small coffee colored head. smells earthy, but musty, lightly glueish, licorice, some wood, light sherry, nice smell. Full body, almost no carbonation, lightly oily mouthfeel. tastes peppery, grassy, bit boozy, some oxidation, licorice, sherry, light molasses. finishes lightly sweet with notes of molasses, sherry and licorice. not bad, bit definitely not on its prime, still enjoyable though

Bottle thanks to Colin from way back. Finally had a reason to crack this. Solid all round beer. Very prune and raisin forward stuff with a fairly juicy, sticky and dried fruit focus throughout. Non barrel is my preferred drop.

Svart farge med tynt beige skum. Lukter kaffe , kakao, vanilje. Smaker alkohol sjololade en anelse kaffe. God lang sjokoladepreget avslutning.

Bottle thanks to kbudd19! Pours inky black, small bubbly black head, dissipates leaving a bit of a ring and some lacing. Aroma is molasses, vinous, cocoa, anise. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, vinous cocoa, hints of oak tannins, molasses, star anise. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Whoah.

Just not barking up my tree. Too smokey and bourbon combo and that overwhelms the character. I can see where some would enjoy... Not my personal favorite.

brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - JUN 8, 2016
On tap @ Harry’s Hofbrau - San Leandro. Black in color with a thin layer of tan foam. Aroma is an interesting mix of roasted malt, ash, smoke, and jammy currant. A lot of vinous, dark fruit qualities, too. Sweet wine, some black cherry, and blackberry. Definitely get a boozy quality here. Light carbonation but pretty substantial in terms of the body. A somewhat bitter finish with coffee, roast, smoke, and dark chocolate. Interesting.

[5/15/16] Bottle at Himmeriget in Copenhagen. Black with a tan head. Complex aroma of port, chocolate, dark fruits, roast, a bit of booziness, smoky note. Sweet flavor, a bit boozy, with chocolate, port, dark fruits, wood, vanilla, and a light chili hint. Full-bodied. Great stuff.
