COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all it must taste rare!

50cL Bottle from Sherbrooke 12%. Was in need of redemption after Review 666, so figured Even More Jesus would have me walkin on holy water. Black as the redemptive folly of purgatory, with a foamy tan cap at the top of the glass that fades to a ring. Aroma is heavy roast malt, burnt sugar, currant, raisin, smoke. Taste is mild bitterness, medium-heavy alcohol character, lots of currant and smokiness on the palate in the finish. Really cool stout. Might have to rerate on its own, not following the glory of 666.

August 29, 2013 - draught at Craft Beer Co. (Islington). Thick-looking opaque black, like motor oil, with solid mottled light brown creamy head - legs too. Oily and nutty aroma, deep roast, some paint and wheat, quite dry; moderate alcohol for 12.5%. Taste follows, very nutty, slightly boozy, almost burnt - tasty. Thick, oily, decent low-level carbonation, a little boozy and bitter more in the aftertaste. Pretty good - I wanted to say this is sweet, but it really doesnt come across that way, even though theres a lot of fermentables in there I think.

PotjeBier (2815) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 4, 2013
On tap @ Beer Temple. Pitch black with a brown head, not lasting. Aromas: woody, tar, charcoal, boozy. Retronasal: roast, tar, sweet malts, dried fruit, alcohol. Flavor is sweet with some fruity acidity. Strong alcohol feel and heavy body, syruppy almost. Finishes ashy, fruit, sweet and then bitter. Pretty awesome.

On tap at Beer Temple. I had this before, but was too far gone to rate it. Came across then as quite ashy and roasted-sour, sugary. So, take two: Black colour, light-brown head. Aroma of hard roasted malts, chocolate, chili pepper, light sweet spices, brown sugar, coffee. Flavour is coffee and chocolate, light chili and alcohol burn, well-integrated brown sugar, light sweet fruity notes, some raisins, roasted bitter finish with more chocolate. Full-bodied. Good stuff.

Keg at CBC Islington, thanks to and shared with Hog Town Harry, 29/08/13. Pitch black with a big dirty tan head that retains well - this looks the bollocks! Nose is big on roast malts, bitter dark chocolate, light booze, smokey notes, burnt sugar. Taste comprises bitter roast, muscavado sugars, molasses, tar, leather, dark chcolate, unrefined cocoa powder, touch of alcohol. Full bodied, fine carbonation, a little booze in the finish but not overly warming. A very well made 12% impy, the alcohol is well tempered and it drinks fairly easily. Nice work!

Bottle. Black colour with a tan head that quickly diminishes, tan colour. Aroma has toasted and roasted malts, ripe fruit and raisins with cocoa hints. Flavor is strongly alcoholic but very good integrated, sweet notes, strong maltyness, raisins and plums are present, wooden and licorice notes. The final has notes of coffee, black chocolate, creamy and dense on palate, alcoholic and bourbon notes.
