3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Inky black pour with a thin, creamy brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, toast, roasted nuts, caramel, lots of char and smoky old campfire, just a hint of sweet berries. Flavor is sweet chocolate up front, lots of char, some sweet cherries, coffee, dark caramel, light piney hops and a slightly stronger hint of cherries to the finish. Honestly if the description didn’t mention cherries, I may not have picked them up. Heavy body, creamy to chewy feel and medium strength slightly sharp carbonation. Really good overall, but they didn’t do the base beer any favors with the cherries or whatever they did. I will admit as the beer warms the cherries come out a little more and add a little more positively to the beer, but still not enough to redeem it compared to the base beer.
Bottle thanks to Neemo. Pours black with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is cherry skin, roast, oak, spice. Medium body, roasted malt, cherry, cocoa, nice sweetness, boozy finish, very good. Terminus (3716) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 18, 2017
Pours deep black hue with a nice fizzy tan head that lead to great lacing. Nose is big roast, char, lite cherry sweetness and some booze but not overpowering. Licorice and currants are there as well. Flavors exhibit the licorice, dark malts burnt notes, big roast, with some sweetness on the finish from the cherries. I have no idea what this vintage is but the cherry flavor is pretty subdued here if you ask me. Big body yet well balanced. There is more alcohol on the nose than the flavor would suggest. A solid brew for sure. Ronritter (875) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - FEB 28, 2017

Tap at Gambrinus 7th anniversary. Pours a deep brown with a small bit of foam that dissipates quickly. Tart cherry aromas surrounded by chocolate and almond notes. Thin on the palate, with the tart cherry flavors really standing out. Abv is hidden very well. Chocolate cherry lingers on the finish with a touch of roasted cacao nib. commonmac (1338) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 8, 2016
Tap at Republic Seven Corners in a snifter glass with commonshawn. Dark brown resembling coffee with a surprisingly minimal head of the tan variety. Aroma isn’t overly aggressive but brings to mind dessert. Chocolate, vanilla, hint of cherry or some sort of fruit. Taste is rich and decadent. Chocolate and cherry blend together to inspire thoughts of a dark chocolate covered cherry. There is a definite presence of alcohol and I think it rounds it out well. Biscotti gets lost. Little tart, mostly sweet and aggressively flavorful. Interesting but probably only need to have tried once.

Aroma: cherry syrup and black bread with a hint of hops.
Flavor: bittersweet with fairly high levels of both balancing each other but nonetheless separable. mildly tart too. Moderate cherry flavor. Loads of dark roasted grains and black bread.

From tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours a pitch Black with a creamy tan head. Aroma has cherries, more roasted malts than the base beer? Very fruity, some dusted cocoa, vanilla and a bunch of caramel. Taste is more spicy. A slight fruity tartness, but not a whole lot. Light bitterness and a medium sweetness. Full, creamy body and a light carbonation.
