The Roman Empire had a certain je ne sais quoi festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen thats still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

4 oz. from pint can; from Old Town. Aroma: Big chocolate fudge with slightly lesser roast-centric coffee with vanilla creamer. Appearance: Black with a foamy tan head that settles into a wispy skin. Flavor: Chocolate and coffee tug o war up front with a vanilla liqueur-like thing going on thereafter; the finish lingers on with roast bitterness and booze. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: Lots to ponder here, but ultimately I just didnt enjoy this very much. Maybe Im just not into these supremo stouts as much as I used to be. Jarring and unpleasant.

Pours a jet black with a foamy tan head. Aroma is vanilla and chocolate and some roast. Flavor is similar, but richer. Theres a touch of something else I cant identify. Has a thick, smooth body. Sweet. Very good.

Pint can. Pours black as the Knights Watch, brown head, not much staying power. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate. Flavor is a chunk of very alcohol-laden biscotti. Almond, vanilla. Dry, alcohol content is well hidden. At $4 a can to be enjoyed at home, this is entirely worth it, considering a shitty beer at a bar rarely is as cheap as $4. One of the best imperial stouts, and beers, Ive ever had.

Pours black with brown head. A strong vanilla, coffee, and roasted malts. A very strong and unique taste of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, vanilla, and bourbon barrel. A strong sweet and roasted malt and vanilla aftertaste.

On tap and it was AWESOME Big aroma of roasted "something" (of course it is roasted malt but it felt like fresh ground coffee and some other charred elements). Taste is more roastiness but with a nice sweetness that keeps it all balanced. Really tastes like a biscotti. Really a big porter too, packing a nice alcohol warmth.

Dark black color with light brown ring of a head and no lacing. Aroma and flavor have rich chocolates and and intense malts. Strong alcohol nose, but less of it in the flavor. Crazy flavor, very good!

Draft at Row 34. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Leaves a fair amount of lacing in the glass. Solid roasted malt notes on the nose. A fair amount of hazelnut and bitter chocolate on the tongue. Hides it's booze well. Nice but I'm not sure it's an improvement of Biscotti Break. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours nearly black with a deep caramel head that dissipates nearly immediately. Aromas of cacao, cappuccino, biscuit, vanilla bean, and sweet malts with just the faintest hint of alcohol. Taste is dark chocolate, mocha, vanilla creamer; nice warming sensation at the back of the throat from the booze, but its well-hidden in the taste. This beer literally *begs* to be aged in bourbon barrels (edit: apparently there is a version of this already), which would make it absolutely exquisite. As it is, its still very good.

ulrikolsen (527) - DENMARK - APR 28, 2016
UPDATED: APR 28, 2016 [email protected] Pours black with thick creamy brown head, that quickly reclines to the sides of the glass. In the nose complex coffee, roasted malt with rich dark chocolates. Taste is coffee and biscotti! Rich, deep coffee with chocolate, almonds, vanilla, biscuit with some sweetness but ends dry. East to drink, tough high alcohol, that hides well, but is notable.
