The Roman Empire had a certain je ne sais quoi festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen thats still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Serving: from tap at The Beer Junction. Aroma: moderate chocolate aroma. Appearance: small, frothy, brown, initial head with no lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Dark brown/black body. Taste: heavy/harshly sweet, dark-chocolate, initial flavor and finish with long duration. Palate: medium body, oily texture and soft carbonation. Overall: at first it tasted really good--like a dark-chocolate bar--but the overwhelming sweetness quickly got old. By the time Id finished half the glass, I was getting tired of it and it took a while to finish the second half. Reminded me of the days after Halloween during my childhood when Id eaten too much candy in one sitting. It would be great in a four ounce sampler, but an entire glass was too much.

On tap @ beer attraction Rimini. Marrone scuro, velata, schiuma beige finissima e persistente.aroma intenso fruttato, frutta secca, mandorla e nocciole, tostato, caff solubile e cacao amaro, pastafrolla e zucchero di canna.

Coffee, brown sugar, & roasted malt aromas up front with vanilla & almonds very much in the background. Arrives with coffee sweetened with brown sugar or honey. Develops into a light, sweet almond note similar to amaretto. Ends on roasted malt, milk chocolate, vanilla, and a small kick of booze; lingering notes of coffee & vanilla in aftertaste. Full, slick body with medium carb. Really awesome flavored imperial stout, but it leans a bit on the dessert side. After warming up, amaretto notes start to take over while still offering an additional dark fruit note in aroma & taste. Coming towards room temp, it shows off more of the chocolate note. Very complex!

Pint can from Wine Warehouse. Pours nearly black with an inch of brown head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, caramel, somewhat sweet smelling. Flavor is sweet vanilla, caramel, chocolate, coconut, and coconut milk. A hint of back-end booze, which after the past two weeks I dont mind - in fact I welcome some alcohol.

Nice aroma of bitter chocolate, some vanilla and some coconut infused bourbon. Ebony color with a tan head. Sweet chocolate malt up front. Complexity out of the gate is outstanding. Bittersweet chocolate, molasses, vanilla, and roasted coconut. Bitterness is sharp, with a nice warm booze echo. Slightly dry, nice boozy finish with bitter coffee/chocolate tones. Very good.
