The Roman Empire had a certain je ne sais quoi festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen thats still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Draft at Vintner. Black colored pour with a tan head on it. Smell is fruity, dark chocolate, somewhat like raspberries in it? No hops or alcohol noted. Taste is very thick and full, tons of chocolate and pretty sweet. Not sure if the sweetness comes from the higher ABV or just the raspberry flavors I got from it... Pretty good beer, but it is basically dessert in a glass.

Brilliant aroma. Perfectly laced coffee smell with roasted malts as well as some caramel, alcohol, and wood notes. Color is totally opaque dark black; foam is dense, really tanned. Really bitter, in mouth and in the finish. Coffee grants an extra dose of bitterness, that could have just been fine if it didnt grant a really dry finish. Overall, flavor is consistent, and pretty similar to the aroma. Alcohol and dark fruit notes are present. Full body, thick and oily texture, low carbonation, bitter and long finish. Overall, a quite remarkable beer.

Bottle. Sensoric. Deep brown with light brown, frothy, thick head. Moderate head retention and good lacing. Aroma is heavily malty - mainly roasted malts (dark chocolate, caramel), also molasses, soy sauce, lightly wood, ashy and some ABV noticeable. Taste is medium to heavy sweet (closer to heavy) with lightly bitterness later on. The sweetness is mainly like syrup (chocolate syrup) empowered by some brown sugar, very nice. Full body, oily and thick texture, soft carbonation, finish is malty, chocolate with nice dark fruit notes (raisins), lightly bitter, very nice well-rounded palate. In general this is really good example of sweet, chocolate RIS with moderate residual sweetness. Very smooth and drinkable.

From a can. So thick, smooth and rich, the sweet biscuit and cocoa flavours are balanced with dark chocolate bitterness, awesome stuff.

Dark black with thick tan head. Wonderful aroma of vanilla and sweet malt. Taste had a great balance of sweet vanilla and malt with mild bitterness of roasted coffee. I didnt pick up much of the almond, but overall great beer.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a smallish, two centimetre tall off-white head that fades relatively fast Aroma of alcohol, toasted malt, pure caster sugar, grain and a good amount of crazily enough - cookies! Full-bodied; Roasted malt flavours up front with a good deal of coffee, earth, caramelised sugars and a big dose of light chocolate - fairly low on the cacao side. Aftertaste is full on malt, alcohol and sweetness, with only a touch of grain coming through and no real complexities. Overall, a good beer, but only a mediocre imperial stout, given its simplistic flavour and non-complexities throughout. Nice to sample and the alcohol is VERY well hidden, but this one is not as good as it seems from the rating, due to the label on the front, sadly enough. I sampled this 50 cL can purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Chelsea), New York last night on 01-December-2016 for US$2,99 sampled at my hotel here in Chelsea, New York, New York on 02-December-2016, for a very good price for an Imperial Stout at this size, in New York.

Aroma - caramelized sugar, licorice, raisins, prune, cherry, alcohol, spice, and chocolate. Appearance - the body is black, and the head is a sandy brown and about 1 1/4" and slowly fades. Alcohol cloying Taste - rich full malt, sweet with chocolate, almond, brown sugar, caramelized sugar, raisins, and slight prune and spices. There is a little anisette and bold alcohol. Palate - full body, slick feel a little thin, average carbonation, rich and sugary with astringent alcohol. Tap at Hop Cats Detroit. Nice head slow exit, little swirl- back again. Wow taste like a slice of carmelized raisin, nutty, spicy, did I mention reduced brown sugar? Southern pie, with a touch of fiestieness. Nice.

Bottle 75cl, a dark beer with medium brown head. Nose is sweet like with roasted caramel and coffee. Aroma is intense on chocolate, caramel, biscuit, smooth body, lot of licorice and vanilla notes, van houten type of chocolate, creamy, exceptional brew. Long roasted aftertaste, bit of soy sauce.
