Draft at the Sybarite Pig in Boca Raton, FL. Pours a black thick liquid with a dark tan thick head. Nice lacing. Aroma is...well....doughnut. Yup. That old fashioned non-iced Krispy Kreme doughnut. Aroma of dough, cocoa, vanilla, confectioner’s sugar, and cinnamon. The taste is similar but thank God it isn’t overly sweet. It just taste like those old fashioned doughnuts. Creamy texture, doughy finish. Probably one of the best stouts I’ve ever had. Delicious.

(650ml bottle from boxbeers.dk) Pours black with a small and short-lived dark brown head that fades to nothing without lace. Aroma of molasses-heavy dark malt, coffee, bakers chocolate, chocolate pastry, glazing sugar, marzipan, moderately roasty, quite sweet overall, rather intense. Flavour is sweet but not as intense as I would have expected, with chocolate pastry/dough, muscovado, molasses, marzipan, vanilla extract, liqueur, light to moderate coffee, dark fruit, prunes, raisins, light roast. Finish is lingering doughnut/almond/extract confectionary notes and a little coffee, hint of alcohol. Kind of light and thin for style with almost no carbonation. Decent pastry-type stout, pretty sweet though, and without the heft to totally sustain its intentions. Bottle's a year or so old, that might be part of it.

650ml bottle from the Park Royal LRS (thx, Jamey!). Pours a very dark brown with the same head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, fudge. Similar taste with moderate sweetness. Chocolatey and bready aftertaste. Very nice.

Bottle. Pitch black beer with small brown head with great duration and lacing. Aroma of cocoa, chocolate, almonds, nuts. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter, chocolate, cocoa, nuts, almonds, light vanilla, sugar, notes of coffee. More chocolate and cocoa in the finish. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Great balance and flavour depth. Wonderful.

On tap at Muted Horn, Berlin. Comes with an nearly black, opaque color and a small tan head. Nice nose of vanilla, milk chocolate, toffee and some dried fruits. Taste is like a liquid donut: milk chocolate with nuts, sweet molasse, dried fruits. Full bodied.

W aromacie jest sporo wanilii. Oprócz niej w nos uderza spora slodycz, podobna do lukru. To piwo to bez dwóch zdan #teamslodyczka. Jest bardzo geste i pelne.

11.5%ABV. Imperial Porter. Poured out black. 40SRM. Nose is coffee, vanilla, pound cake. There is some kind of berry or grape jam aroma. The predominant aroma is still of cake, donuts, and crullers. There is of course also Chinese medicine in the nose which is a sweet, herbal, slightly spicy aroma. Mouthfeel is syrupy and reminiscent of cold milk coffee or a melted coffee shake. Palate is black bread, burnt toast. There is a fruity dimension that suggests plum jam, grape jelly. Vegemite, yeasty and with a good full-bodied umami. Finish has a hint of spice, wood, and incense. Overall, a really full-bodied coffee imperial porter/stout that are kinda flooding the market these days. *interesting tasting note: mixed with spontan cherry (in the back of the pic) is a full-bodied chocolate covered sour cherries.

Small tan head, receding over virtually black beer with brown lining. Deep chocolate nose, some coffee, whiff of benzene, dark grains/malts. Dark chocolate pralines. Even more outspoken chocolate flavour, dark chocolate ganache, bit of dark red/purple fruit. Quite sweet, generally. Very chewy, slightly buttery feel, full bodied, medium carbonation at best. Quite good, but not exactly novel. 7/4/8/4/17
