September 23, 2017 - at Craft (Clerkenwell) - keg draught. Oh yes, because you want to cap off a long, long day of drinking with THIS ... Black pour, lasting light brown head - lovely. Big alcohol in that aroma, but big burnt chocolate brownie fudge too; with anise and a little prune tartness. Taste follows - big, boozy, burnt dark chocolate and a little cranberry and licorice - really grabs your attention. Thick alcoholic mouthfeel, decent keg carbonation, long somewhat bitter finish, but not all that much HOP bitterness, more from alcohol and huge overroast malt. Woo. Spoiler alert: no, I did NOT get mugged staggering back along Leather Ln to Chancery Lane station - or fall asleep on my mercifully short Tube ride back to Russell Square.

Bottle split at Cotts Convention III, thanks to Sarky, 20/05/17. Black with a decent tan cap. Nose is toffee fudge, roast malts, dark fruits, light smoke, hint of chocolate. Taste comprises light charr, toffee, liquorice, chocolate, black peppery spice, sweet imbibe, fruit loaf. Full body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a rising boost. Ok impy but doesn't really pull out of third gear for me.

6/8/2016 -- from notes: 22oz bottle, from Dutch's. Batch 1. Up front, espresso, dark chocolate, moderate roast, mild spice - cinnamon, brown sugar. Touch of smoke on the back end? A long exhale was something like roast beef. Some definite bigger bitterness, and a bit of alcohol warmth. Finishes more dry, which is nice, because I feared that this would be cloying-sweet. It does have sort of a significant bite on the backend, though. Big body with a pretty nice thick chewiness to the texture -- it seems as if the beer is named more for the texture than the flavor. Color is black with a brown head, leaving some short ropes and bits of lace. Looks impressive enough. Solid, big imperial stout.. Was particurlarly nice once I started in on my sandwich. The bite dissipated somewhat, maybe the beer being able to breath a bit had something to do with that.

Bomber - it pours a coal black liquid with a med tan head. Big toasty aroma followed by baking chocolate, dark berries, a hint of chicory and burnt toast. Solid stout flavors but nothing spectacular with great roasted notes and a well hidden 12% abv.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2017 Tap at Brass Tap. Poured a ruby black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate, coffee, fruit and alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy dark sweet toasted malt flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a solid beer.

Bottle from Alko Hyvinkää. Roasted ,coffee, some dark berries, some sweetness, quite dry.

Fisler (812) - Bamberg, GERMANY - NOV 25, 2017
In der Nase dunkle Röstmalze, Cognac. Lakritz, Zimt, Cognac, Karamell. Ein Feuerwerk der Gewürze. Sehr geiles Teil.

davidezdonz (646) - Hong Kong, HONG KONG - NOV 24, 2017
A 22 fl. oz. bomber with no clear bottled on or best before date other than Batch #02. Poured into a snifter. It was black in colour with a half finger brown head that had decent retention and left some spotty lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, liquorice and some booze. Tastes of chocolate, liquorice, caramel and booze with a hint of char. Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall this was ok cold out of the fridge, but as it warms up a bit, which is when Imperial Stouts usually thrive, it actually became more boozy and perhaps overly harsh. Also, while there is some chocolate in the flavour, it is nowhere near what we are led to believe in the name ‘Liquid Double Fudge’.

bierkoning (13893) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - NOV 22, 2017
Bottle from Borresteijn, thanks! Toffee, roast and licorice in the aroma, full bodied, thick mouthfeel. Malty sweet flavor with lots of salted licirice, caramel and roast. It's big, alcoholic and sweet, but not overly complex.
