This things a chunky looking monster of an imperial ipa. Aroma is full of tropical fruit and sweet candied orange. Super heavy smelling. I don’t really know how to describe it, but it’s just thick smelling. Best part, for 13% you don’t smell any of the alcohol so bravo to them for being able to master the balance in this beer. Taste is super hoppy, sweet and tropical. A little malty, but for as big as it is, you really don’t get a lot of it. I was worried it was going to be a syrupy weird mess but it stays far away from that. Overall, this is an awesome imperial ipa. Not one I would drink regularly, but every one in a while it’s a good sipper. It’s perfect for drinking slow, savoring and seeing how it changes over the course of drinking it. Awesome beer, absolutely recommend it. Cheers! kanaclane (481) - - JAN 1, 2017

Went to this place for the second straight night. This time I reviewed a Molotov Cocktail and sipped on another Bomb! while eating an OK burger. More interested in this one than excited.
Poured a deep gold yellow color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky white head. Some bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. World-class foamy retention. Just a good looking beer. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled Citra, Cascade, lemon peel, lime, caramel and a touch of tropical. Smells really smooth for 13 pct. ABV. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted maltier than I would have thought. Caramel, toffee, bitter pine, Citra, dry Cascade, some spices (maybe Simcoe?), lemon peel, citrus zest, Nugget and a touch of earthy tobacco. Boozy, but not 13 pct. ABV boozy. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Dry malty finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Liked the smoothness of this one overall. Was nice to try, but not sure it’s something I would need to have again. (Overall - 4.00)

Clear golden and light amber coloured body with a very thin, half centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, light hops, a touch of earth, tons of honey and unfinished sugars and a bit of pine bitterness as well - pretty nice. Full-bodied; Strong rich and floral hop flavours at first with some light tropical fruits and a good dose of resin and pine, coupled with a bit of an alcohol burn, some assertive hops near the end and a smooth richness. Aftertaste shows a lot of sugars, some metal, a hint of fruits and a lot of alcohol, but definitely not anywhere close to 13,0%. Overall, a nice beer and a fairly good Imperial IPA that hides it’s alcohol pretty well, but unfortunately doesn’t have much hoppiness - this is more of an American Strong Ale or even hints of a Barley Wine more than an Imperial IPA. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Murray’s Cheese in New York (Greenwich Village), New York on 30-May-2016 for US$4,99 sampled at home in Washington on Christmas Eve, 24-December-2016.

My go to high ABV IPA. The hoppyness brilliantly hides the alcohol taste, the appearance is gloriously unffiltered and looks like thousands of prehistoric microorganisms preserved in amber. This is one amazing brew! It’s one of those special beers that is so good that with every sip you feel like you might be doing something naughty... drink a few of these and you just might.

06.12.2016- 0,33L Flasche(liquid Hops 09/2015) . Gut!
