Rich, deep, mahogany colored pour. Ruby highlights. No head, no lacing. Looks flat, but there is the occasional bubble rising. Smells like caramelized sugar, raisins, malt. Taste is sweet, slight smokiness, sugary. Vanilla. Sweet syrupy mouthfeel, but not to syrupy. Not too bad. I like it, but would like it better if it was colder. Nice winter warmer. michael-pollack (4959) - King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 17, 2011
500ml Bottle: Aroma of malt, sugar, light dark ripe fruit, light caramel, and raisins. Poured brown/deep copper in color with a medium-sized, creamy, tan head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Hazy. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malt, sugar, light brown sugar, and candy. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt, sugar, candy finish. 8%ABV is completely hidden throughout. Cybercat (5838) - Georgia, USA - DEC 16, 2011
Strong, fruity flavor has hints of malt, yeast and horehound, and is quite sweet, maybe a bit too sweet. It pours a clear Coca-cola brown with an average light tan head. Flavor fills the mouth, being almost candy-like, having fruity, horehound, malty and caramel notes - tasty, but a bit sweet for a beer. Smooth, firm-bodied texture has a good amount of fizz. Overall, very drinkable if a bit on the sweet side. JaBier (7973) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - DEC 16, 2011
Bottle sample at the 12% tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 12/15/11. Pours hazy brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of sugary caramel, toffee, tobacco, molasses and chocolate. Toffee and caramel flavor with a chocolatey, roasty finish. Very sweet, but unique and enjoyable. oteyj (2139) - New Hampshire, USA - DEC 6, 2011
Dark garnet pour with a small off white head. Huge dark fruit and bread in the nose lead to a flavor full of raisin, date, molasses, caramel, and fig. Massive sweetness- just too much for me. Thick cloying palate with low carbonation.

Tap at Churchkey. Pours a hazy strawberry to jewel ruby with no head formation. Small ring of beige bubbles. Nose is pool cleaner. Small red twizzlers and starchy red candies. Volatile notes thankfully subside for sweet dark cherries and dark fruits: fruit cake, dates. Taste is nicely sweet. Sort of like Gouden Carolus Christmas with Belgian dark fruits, red licorice, mild spices and noticeable sweet rum booziness. Not bad. Reminds me a lot of Belgian Easter and Christmas beers. Gouden Carolus attenuation level. Not as sweet as I was told to expect. Nice.

Draft. Very dark maroon color, large bright tan head. Aroma of furniture polish. Taste is medicinal and pure sugar. Is this a mistake? craftycarl21 (2338) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Draught at Churchkey. Deep red pour. The nose and flavor are bursting with sweetness; raisin, molasses, apple, brandy.... apple brandy..... plum, candied sugars, and caramel. The flavor is much of the same, but it’s a bit too much; cloying, and syrupy sweet. Ehhh. zathrus13 (1776) - Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA - DEC 1, 2011
Bottle. Pours amber/red, with a tan head. Aroma is caramel, malt, and fruit. Flavor is brown sugar, malt, fruit, and alcohol. Heavy body, long, sweet palate. anders37 (26648) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 1, 2011
Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy molasses aroma with hints of dark fruit. Sweetish fruity malty spicy molasses flavor. Has a sweetish malty spicy finish.
