Clear purple brown beer, small light beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: rhum infused bbq bananas (or: sweet banana, candi sugar, brown rhum, burnt caramel). MF: ok carbon, medium body. TAste: sweet sugary start, malts, ripe fruits, banana & prunes, caramel, bit cloying, rhum raisins. Aftertaste: mocha, brown sugar, rotten fruits, over ripe banana, bit of coffee, somewhat alcoholic in the back of the throat.
Pours a dark brown, with a off-white head.
Smells of brown sugar, caramel, and toffee -- super sweet.
Tastes not nearly as sweet as I’d expect from the nose; sweet dried red berries, caramel, and a mild bitterness.
Body is medium; texture is oily; carbonation is medium; finishes dry.
Pretty well balanced, and quite tasty. laiti (8505) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 26, 2011
50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 2015 on the label and xx.07.2012 on the necklusikka (7819) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 26, 2011
Aroma is sugary with syrup, spices, candi sugar, floury caramel and hints of roastiness. Also something German-like, maybe hops? Flavour is, surprisingly, rather sweet with brown and cane sugar. Also some belgian yeast, toffee and caramel. Something plastic-like occurs at the end of the glass. The sweetness doesn’t disturb as much as I expected. However, drinking the whole bottle by myself would be a mission impossible.

Pours a dark amber colour with a thick, white head. Aroma of smooth brown sugar, slightly toasted malts and toffee. Very smooth flavour of toasted malts, brown sugar, candi sugar, toffee, some hops. Full bodied, very smooth mouthfeel and a long, warming, smooth and sweet finish. Overall a very smooth beer with loads of sweetness, but it doesn’t disturb here.
50 cl bottle. BBE 2015 (the bottle had also some 2012 marking)

Pours dark ruby red colour with small head. Aroma of sweet malts, clove, grass, light caramel and sugar candy. Flavour of caramel, sweet malts, haym nuts, flour, sugar and ripe fruits. Something familiar to german beers on the nose, probably just the sweet malts.
Draft at The Ginger Man with Andrew. Pours a bright hazy orange with white lacing. Aroma is belgian candy, sweet malts. Mouthfeel is medium with pretty much just nice sweet candied flavor dominating. AcctError54399 (1962) - Manhattan, New York, USA - NOV 5, 2011
On tap at gingerman. The least favorite of the night. Belgian candied sugar.. Not completely balances GAManiac (1944) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - NOV 3, 2011
Pours a deep clear copper with a big creamy beige head that recedes slowly to a solid cap.
Aroma is very sweet with lots of cane sugar and caramel malts. Plenty of booze soaked fruits, plums and raisins especially.
Taste is more of the same though it’s actually a little less sweet than I was expecting. There is lots of cola-like sweetness with cane sugar, various dark fruits and vanilla. There is more of the Belgian yeast coming through which evens the sweetness a bit.
Mouthfeel is smooth, creamy and well carbonated.
I really thought this was going to be a diabetes-inducing beer given the title and the nose but the taste is more balanced than that. Really solid Belgian dark. gnoff (10713) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 30, 2011
