Hazy gold pour with a 2 finger, bright white head. Aroma is spicy, peppery yeast, citrus, tart tree and stone fruit, light minerality and nice, sweet floral notes. Flavor starts off with spicy yeast, cereal, bready malt, grass, pepper doughy yeast, then lots of citrus and floral hops come in along with some spiciness toward the slightly bitter finish. Light to medium body with an oily but dry entry, dry finish and medium strength, sharp and blanketing carbonation that suit the beer very nicely. Really good. I usually end up wishing that most stronger Saisons were a little less so, but with the balance leaning more toward the hoppy side, and still having a solid, but not overbearing yeast presence I think this one is right where it needs to be.

6 month old 330 ml bottle. Appearance when poured out is a hazy, cloudy golden orange colour, with some white froth with poor retention. Aromas are muted, was expecting a big dose of farmhouse saison earthy, dough aromas, but it was rather bland! Tastes-wise was similar, rather muted flavours, although the yeasty flavours do come through given how muted the hoppy notes were. Carbonation seems average on a light body. I think this deserves a second try on a fresher bottle. RobBestwick (931) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 8, 2017
