11.2 oz bottle shared with Tmoney99. Pours a clear brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have dark caramel malts, dark fruits, wood, a hint of smoke, the port barrel works a little bit better with this than the wine barrel in my opinion, some sweetness that works with this beer, smoke is actually very mild. This is solid and tasty. Thanks to b3shine for the opportunity to try this beer.

Dark brown color with dark red shades, and brownish head. The malts in the aroma are heavily caramelized, some old wood, no hops, hence very British. Good body strength, with moderate residual sweetness; dark caramel and dark malts flavor, a bit dusty and oxidized; warm alcohol and fair bitterness. Very light vinous note, that could be the Port. Nutty.
Very good, very similar to the second incarnation of Thomas Hardy’s Ale, although with a tad less character.

jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 18, 2014
Dark mahogany with light chocolate shake head, light fine-bubble lacing / Rich nose of dark fruit, coffee, tobacco, caramel / Full body, chewy, creamy, sweet but with excellent balance, light heat, and light bitterness on finish / Flavors of prune, date, caramel, coffee, tobacco, oak / Nice.

AgentAle (1726) - Alberta, CANADA - SEP 16, 2014
Aroma is rich malts, molasses, slight smokiness and light wine notes. Taste is rich rich toffee, molasses and malts. Brown sugar notes here too. Finishes rich and sweet. Some light bitterness and liquor snap. Appearance is a dark amber with a thin pearl head that retains poorly.

Gerbeer (3664) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 18, 2014
330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark mahogany with light head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of dark caramel and sugar, sweet malts, and dark raisins, and alcohol. Flavors of malt extract, dark fruit/figs, tobacco, leather, and brown sugar. Hot. Complex and very nice, but ABV is very noticeable.
