Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is semi dry with light fine carbonation. Rich malt, sweetish. Marmite. Dark toffee, touch of spice. Jammy red berry fruits underneath. Dry finish. Tasty but the marmite is getting in the way of this being a better beer.

Dark brown color with dark red shades, and brownish head. The malts in the aroma are heavily caramelized, some old wood, no hops, hence very British. Good body strength, with moderate residual sweetness; dark caramel and dark malts flavor, a bit dusty and oxidized; warm alcohol and fair bitterness. Very light vinous note, that could be the Port. Nutty.
Very good, very similar to the second incarnation of Thomas Hardy’s Ale, although with a tad less character.
Rating #6000. 11.2 oz. bottle, pours a dark mahogany with a small white beige head. Aroma brings out lots of sweet wine (port), followed by caramel and candied sugar - quite complex and decadent. Flavour is decadent and complex, with treacle toffee, just enough port barrels, and a touch of candied sugar. Wow, this is rich and elegant. One of Evil Twin’s best. This is marvellous. saxo (19569) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - OCT 12, 2013
