Rating #1232 - 15.08.2014 Bottle from CBI. Nut brown pour, bubbly head, not much lacing. Aroma is red wine, alcohol, pastry dough Taste is an alcoholic blast, lots of hoppy bitterness tempered with a ton of pastry malt sweetness on the palate. Just a big bold beer for flavour-lovers. Awesome. Beersiveknown (5325) - NORTHERN IRELAND - MAY 10, 2015

Rich sherry, rum, fruity, sweet not heavy, like a Pedro ximinez. Lightly hazy pale amber, little by way of head. Perfect beer for cheese. Excellent
Deep brown with floating pieces, but not gross looking just looks like a bad cup of instant coffee. Aroma is very boozy and slightly woody. Delicious fruity, vanilla, oak and deep caramel flavours. Incredible beer. ttroha (523) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAR 20, 2015
Bottle from Hop City Birmingham. Pours hazy brown with no head. Bits of stuff floating in the beer. Aroma is very sweet and boozy. You can definitely smell the wine. Tastes of a sweet red wine, with lots of booze. Medium bodied and little carbonation. Very unique Tmoney99 (15217) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 16, 2015
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured hazy brown color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruit, chocolate and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of long duration. This is was a standout beer.

Bottled. Deep ambery brown colour with a small off-white head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is chocolate, some sweet malts, toffee, mild wooden notes as well as some ripe fruit and Madeira wine. Flavour is rather sweet with ripe fruits and berries, toffee as well as some mild alcohol and a bit wooden notes. Wellbalanced and quite tasty. Bottle from Hop City in Atlanta. Poured into a Tulip at the hotel. Big, dark brown, thick, oily, and completely opaque pour with a small head. Slick look to it. The aroma is big with lots of breads both light and dark, cereal grains, pumpernickel, caramel, currants, figs, and prunes. The taste is up front on the bread bomb with dark breads, grains, caramel malts, vanilla, and then the fruit comes into play with figs and prunes mainly. Big thick mouth and oily. Coats your tongue with flavors. Low to moderate carb. Great as it warms. Very nicely done. Slightly dry and bitter finish. superspak (6363) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - FEB 10, 2015
330 ml bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours hazy dark brown color with a minimal head and a thin ring of bubbles around the glass. Some lingering wisps of bubbles on the surface, with some slight spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, raisin, plum, fig, date, toffee, vanilla, chocolate, toast, oak, light red wine, and toast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and wine barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, raisin, plum, fig, date, toffee, vanilla, toast, chocolate, oak, red wine, and oak/toasted earthiness. Some light tannic wine/oak bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, raisin, plum, fig, date, vanilla, toast, chocolate, oak, red wine, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and wine barrel flavors; with a great malt/barrel balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and fairly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent English Barleywine style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and wine barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering. Magnifico crossover con textura aterciopelada y grasa a la vez, paladar dulce bien balanceado y un intenso aroma de Pedro Ximenez y maltas oscuras: mermelada de arándano, pan de higo y chocolate negro. Muy fina, de sofá. Stuu666 (15526) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 28, 2015
