Bottle to tulip Port, Grand Marnier, brandy, soy, toffee, a hint of chocolate, coffee, and currants. Silky and slick black, practically no head. The taste is like I’m sucking on the cheesecloth that has just been pulled off a fruitcake. There’s a little chocolate there, but the rest is rum and dark fruits.

Brown, hazy liquid, small beige head. Vineous sweet aroma, hints of higher alcohols. Rich and very smooth, sweet taste and moutfeel with some warming alcohol. Leaves a slight burning sensation. Pretty great.

Bottle (330 ml). From kbudd19, thanks man! Dark reddish brown with a small ring of beige foam and no lacing. Aroma is sweet with grapes, plums, molasses, caramel, boozy, raisins, winey notes and chocolate. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet with grapes/raisins, dark fruits (mostly plums, but also dark cherries), molasses, caramel, chocolate, port-like notes and a warming finish. Medium/full body. Low carbonation. Sirupy mouthfeel. I prefered the Back Room to this one. A little to sweet and boozy, which doesn’t help the balance. Quite complex. Good barrel-aged Barley Wine.

Bottle - Alcohol, licorice, molasses, dark roast and sweet dark fruit barrel notes. Jet brown with a thin rich light brown head. Molasses, soy, licorice and chocolate. Finishes nice and sweet with a bit of barrel and burn on the throat. Great oily mouth feel and everything in balance. A bit darker in look and flavor, but still really good. This is much better than the back room.

small frothy offwhite head. fair lacing. fully diminishing. flat thick dark reddish-brown body. aroma: raisin, cherry, wood, ruby port, alcohol. if: heavy sweet light bitter. ff: heavy sweet moderate bitter; long duration. palate: medium full body, creamy texture, medium carbonation, metallic moderate alcoholic finish.

330ml bottle from Bierkompass

Vertical with Back Room (Port version) - Pours dark reddish brown with a small bubbly head. Aroma of vinous notes, berries, caramely malts, sweet syrup and wood. Taste is sweet, sticky, malty and woody with notes of berries, vinous notes, syrup and caramely toffee. Finish is sweet, syrupy and woody with hints of vinous berries. A lot more heavier and sweeter than the port version.
