DuffMan (10751) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 24, 2013
Bottle. Very dark amber, brickish highlights, low golden head. Sweet malty aroma, burnt sugars abound, dark fruits. Sticky, sweet, richly malty palate with flavours of molasses, brown sugar, dates, toast. Lip smackingly sweet sipper with enormous depth of flavour. Loved it.

dfearnley (2379) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 8, 2014
Bottle to tulip Port, Grand Marnier, brandy, soy, toffee, a hint of chocolate, coffee, and currants. Silky and slick black, practically no head. The taste is like I’m sucking on the cheesecloth that has just been pulled off a fruitcake. There’s a little chocolate there, but the rest is rum and dark fruits.

Bottle. Deep brown liquid with small light tan head. Aroma of dried fruit, raw sugar, oak, port wine, bread, toffee and caramel. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of wood, port wine, vanilla, raw sugar and toffee. Medium to full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Really good.

Lukasmh (780) - Aarhus, DENMARK - NOV 2, 2014
Bottle. Pours viscous thick dark brown with small but nice brown head, some lacing. Aroma is rich. Packed with raisins, dates, figs, prunes - dark and sweet. Some coffee and toast. Burnt molasses. Sweet grapes and really characteristic moscatel. Taste is equally rich. All the dried fruits among the sweet grapes. Got the moscatel acid. Toasty malts and bit sugary. Does fate out in a dry way. Reminds me a lot of the real deal!

superspak (6208) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - FEB 10, 2015
330 ml bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours hazy dark brown color with a minimal head and a thin ring of bubbles around the glass. Some lingering wisps of bubbles on the surface, with some slight spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, raisin, plum, fig, date, toffee, vanilla, chocolate, toast, oak, light red wine, and toast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and wine barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, raisin, plum, fig, date, toffee, vanilla, toast, chocolate, oak, red wine, and oak/toasted earthiness. Some light tannic wine/oak bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, raisin, plum, fig, date, vanilla, toast, chocolate, oak, red wine, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and wine barrel flavors; with a great malt/barrel balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and fairly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent English Barleywine style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and wine barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Desverger (13704) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 11, 2016
[email protected], Copenhagen (2012) v1 from the cellar - dark brown pour with nice beige head. Medium toasty sweet malty aroma and taste, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, treacle, some great dried fruity and nutty notes, red wine infused wooden nuances, some intriguing spices on the palate, medium sweet bitter finish, has a mature old special character to this. Beautiful.

Draught. Dark brown to black opaque pour. Small white head. Malty maple syrup smell. Malt dark fruit- like a strong doppelbock. Very good
