English Language Label: This is one half of a Black & Tan. Not just any Black & Tan, but one where a toasted smug and hoppy fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this profoundly evil Imperial Stout solo).

Flight at Pizzeria Paradiso, D.C. A real surprise, great pitch black body with tan head that laces well. Flavors of dark chocolates and cherries give rise to a sinfully good roasted malt and oven-fresh chocolate cake nose. One of the best Imp. Stouts I have had, and that is saying something.

Bottle from BottleDog, London, and shared at Dans. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of liquorice, chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit, and molasses. Medium to heavy sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Full bodied, slick texture, average carbonation.

Pours black with brown head. A smoky and roasted malt aroma. A smoky taste with chocolate, roasted malts and some dark fruits. A lingering bitter roasted malt aftertaste.

Kinda bummed to find out Yin and Yang dont balance out, since Yins a much better stout than Yang is a DIPA. Not that bummed, though, because drinking Yins a pretty damn nice thing to do. Massive amounts of roasted malt and chocolate sit atop a bitter, dark roast finish. Sweet cocoa, raisin and anise are rounded out by a firm but manageable bitter finish, and the fade is pure sweet Imperial Stout goodness. Not quite the looker as its brother, but the nose is spot-on, and the alcohols an afterthought. Tasty. Tastier when mixed. Not sure why, but Im just gonna accept the mystery on this one.

Keg, cask, London center. Pours black and opaque with a thin tan head residing to a rim. Scent is medium dense notes of tobacco Stout with notes of caramel. Taste is consistent with light notes of wood and cherry. Finish is light sticky and a bit simple for my expectations. Very good.

Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, molasses, mocha, roasted malts and coffee.

Appearance:
Opaque black beer with a slight/medium brown/dark brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, molasses and mocha; ends slightly bitter and dry with roasted malts and coffee.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. A super roasted beer with loads of coffee. The start of this beer is mildly sweet with a bit of dark fruit and chocolate, bit even here the burned flavour of the molasses shine through. The aroma could have been stronger and the palate thicker, but the flavour is amazing and the appearance is perfect.

Cocoa, roasted notes, black with a good tan head, medium body, low carbonation, a bit oily, again roasted notes and a strong bitter final...good but, for me, quite boring.

Bready coffee, very cozy, hint of smoke?, light-med roasted bitterness, very smooth and drinkable.
